My first box arrived today, so as any sensible person would do, I put all of it on at once.

This package contained:
Classiques Entier silk overlay shell (L)
Bernardo 'Kerwin' leather jacket (XL)
Eileen Fisher shibori poncho (not on sale)

Sorry about the photo quality, but I just took a few snaps while doing a quick try-on. Once everything arrives, I'll try to do better.

Photo #1: Classiques Entier shell on its own. The quality on this is beautiful. Nice, thick fabric with a stretchy back and a not-too-delicate silk overlay. The armholes on this are reinforced with a non-stretchy material that's pretty snug on me. Not uncomfortable, but tighter than I would like. I ordered in a L. Maybe I should go up to an XL? I have yet to decide if this is worth the price -for me- or not.

Photo #2: The Eileen Fisher poncho (worn over the CE shell). Of course it's not on sale. And of course I love it. The material is lovely--warm, but still light enough that I can easily wrap it into a scarf, a versatility that makes it infinitely more practical. I could wear it as a scarf outdoors under a coat and then switch to a poncho inside. I was worried about not being able to work while wearing this, but it's really not bulky at all, so I think it'd be fine.

Photo #3: Bernardo jacket (worn over just the shell, and then both pieces.) I feel like this lays a little weirdly when open, maybe? Fit seems all right other than that, it's comfortable, and the leather is nice. I'll come back to it when the other jacket (or jackets, if my other options ever come back into stock) arrives.

Questions! Should I size up in the shell? Keep the expensive poncho? Am I right about the jacket weirdness or just being sensitive? Other thoughts?

ETA: Box two just arrived with the Treasure&Bond ruana poncho. Pic #4 shows it on. It's really beautiful. The pictures do not do the colors justice. I'm still really drawn to it, but it has all the practicality issues the EF poncho lacks. It's quite bulky, completely unbreathable and I suspect the acrylic would pill if I looked at it funny.

Yes, size up on the shell. Much of its charm is due to it being "floaty" rather than close fitting.

Keep the poncho. It's awesome and you clearly love it and are already envisioning wearing it multiple ways. Seems like a winner!

That jacket doesn't look like it's designed for a lady with a full bust. It's nice, and the way it sits isn't a deal breaker, but you might be able to find a better cut jacket for you.

OMG. KEEP the poncho. It is perfect for you and you are in love. You have so many ways to wear this baby, and a piece like this in your rapidly changing climate will be a godsend.

Size up in the shell and compare. This could be another absolute workhorse for you and high quality.

I think one of the other jackets is going to fit and flatter better. Hang onto it until you can do the comparisons. The colour's nice.

YES to the poncho. Killer perfect on you.

YES to a larger size on the blouse. It's going to work well.

I find the leather jacket a little short, and want to compare it to the others you have coming in. That said, it's perfect over skirts and dresses and a great colour on you.

PSSSST -- that poncho is only $45. Keep both!!

(If you can, obviously). I feel like it is maybe a one year wonder with its acrylic content, but you will wear it a ton in that year and take great joy from the colours, which, as you say, are about 40 times more beautiful IRL than in the photo. I think the sale is great both for special "investment" pieces we wouldn't otherwise allow ourselves or be able to buy, AND for the odd "fun" thing that probably won't have a super long longevity factor but lights up our lives as long as we have it.

Haha, Suz. Enabler! You're right. Nothing wrong with an inexpensive treat. I'm sending the Treasure & Bond one back, though.

I didn't mention that I found it itchy on the back of my neck, because I suspect it's because of my skin sensitivities rather than something intrinsic to the poncho, and I didn't want to turn anyone off for spurious reasons. It's the same reason I don't wear polyester. I put a non-breathable material on my back and, boom, instant rash. I suspected that might be the case when I ordered it, but it was so preeeeeettttttttty.

Aha! Okay then. That makes sense and sending it back is a good call. You can find a scarf in those colours. Or a blouse.

Oh I really like the EF poncho! Please keep that one!
The leather jacket looks like it fits but is hanging open. I wonder if you would look better with lapels. I like the color.
I can't see the white shirt well enough to offer an opinion.

smittie, the other one I was able to order does have lapels, so we'll see how that one works when it arrives tomorrow. Still stalking two others.

Barbara Diane, it really only works because it's a quite lightweight fabric, and the shape is a simple rectangle sewn together on one edge. The T&B poncho, for example, wouldn't work the same way at all, although it can be draped and belted for more versatility.

I love all items on you but agree to size up on the shell. I understand the urge to order in black and I am guilty of that as well, but I love this colour on you.
The poncho must stay. Must. It is so fabulous for you.
I actually like the jacket in terms of the colour and the fit but wish it were a bit longer. Does it ride up when you move around?

Thanks, Glory. You know, I'm not sure on the jacket riding up. It's so hot that I didn't keep it on for long. I suspect that it would. I'll try both on again when the next one comes (probably tomorrow) and try to maybe wear them around the house a bit during the cooler morning hours. That'll be a good test.

Oh my, the EF poncho is TDF! And you can wear it as a scarf? That really seals the deal doesn't it? I agree that you should try a size up on the shell top. And I think you can do better on the jacket. Shame about the other poncho.

How sad is it that the best piece in my NAS haul isn't actually NAS? *sigh*

(I'm at a point, though, where I'd rather add one or two great pieces to my wardrobe than a dozen okay ones. So yay for that!)

BTW, I looked for it at Nordstrom's downtown store when I was in Seattle last weekend. They didn't have it! I showed a picture of it to a SA and she verified they didn't have it.

Jenn, for what it is worth, I think that's another of the great gifts of NAS. Because you are ordering anyway, you look at things you might not otherwise have felt emboldened to try, on the logic that looking doesn't hurt. And then sometimes the non-sale items turn out to be the real winners for you. Or sometimes they're summer clearance items, not NAS items. But either way, you have found something that really gives you a lot of bang for your style buck. Maybe it's not on sale, but it's worth any number of sale items in your closet.

Love the EF poncho - at first I thought you had ordered a separate scarf in the same material! Top looks great but size up for comfort. The jacket color works so well with this combination - can't be objective. I do love the stripes of the last poncho on you but I am pill paranoid.

shevia, I'm pretty heart-eyed over the combination of the cognac jacket with the ivory top and herringbone scarf, too. For whatever reason, that particular combination of neutrals is really doing it for me this year. I just need to get the right pieces in place to make it work.
