Heleen- your measurements/ modifiers are similar to mine

Taking photos & being on this forum is helping me appreciate my shape more.
Someone up thread mentioned Sal's post on Already Pretty. It blew me away that she would post her measurements so openly and helped quash any shame I might feel.
I'm pear-shaped, but I have solid shoulders - I think it's my extra weight in my booty.
I'm 5'-6" tall, usually a US 10-12 on top and 12-14 on bottom.
I have average proportions in my torso and my thighs are a touch short and my calves are a touch long.
39 bust (36C)
32 waist
42 hips
15.5 calf
9.5 or 40 shoe size

Similar to NDMom, Declwed Jaguar, maybe?
I would like to steal Diana's closet, but even though it looks like the numbers might work, I think our proportions are too different.

What a fascinating read, I'm not sure who my twin would be but I definitely share some boy type modifiers with many members.

I am 5' 8"
I am long from chin to bust and prefer to minimise this area (I identify with Claire / Angie in this aspect)
A medium bustline
I have a very short waist
hips are in proportion
If I gain weight I will gain a saddle bag
I have average length legs with skinny calves
I definitely tend most towards the racy rectangle body shape.

Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 120 - 125
Bust: 32E
Waist/Bottoms - 8P/10P, or Size 29-30 in jeans, Short rise
Tops: 8P/10P or M/L
Shoe size: 40/9W with high arches

Other modifiers
Apple. Hourglass when I am more toned.
Sway-back tendencies which exaggerate apple shape more.
Wide shouldered
Wide hips, narrow butt
Broad from the front view, but narrow from the side

Off to read the other comments now.

Fern, I think we are similar too ( I hope that doesn't offend ;P ) but I have a bigger waist and hips. Also 5'6" and a pear. I don't think I've seen pics of you and I know I haven't posted pics of me (maybe one day, I hate taking pictures though).

I have no idea who I match with---

I'm 5'8" but with extremely long arms and legs for my height (I wear a 36" inseam in my "flat" shoes and have a 6'1" wingspan) 150 pounds

I am an hourglass

I have broad shoulders, but am busty as well

My entire torso is short (short waist, short rise) although I do have a pretty normal neck to bust length (I have a fairly long neck)

39" bust
29" under bust
26" waist
40" hips

size-wise I'm usually a 6-8 in bottoms, but can be anything from a M to a XL in everything else. Unless I am rocking a pretty large-sized XL, sleeves are often too short. All my pants have to be talls.

Curvy thighs, booty

Size 8.5 in shoes (during the last decade my feet have shrunk two sizes and grown one) Very high arches. Sometimes I wear orthotics.

Waiving at you, Elly. We are very similar but I'm just a little taller, 5'9 and heavier. I wear 8-10 bottoms and large or 12 blouses and dresses. I like to say I was pulled out of the womb by my arms and legs, challenging to find sleeves and hems long enough!

I don’t think that I’ve seen an “identical twin” here, but I’m wondering how close our measurements need to be for us to be close enough to count as twins. There are a number of women here who are a couple inches taller than me and/or a size or two bigger than me, but have very similar proportions. I also know that even if someone isn’t my body twin, if we share certain characteristics I can learn from their successes and failures - I’m thinking mostly of the narrow calves support group!

Anyway, I’m an hourglass (more of an X than an 8) with inverted triangle tendencies.

Here are my measurements:
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 110-115 lbs
Tops: XS or S (and sometimes petite)
Bottoms: 0 or 2 (never petite)
Shoulders: 39” around
Bra size: 30DD
Waist: 28” around (my ribcage ends below my waist
Hips: 36” (this is actually a bit below my hips, my widest point is around my thighs)
Shoe size: 6.5 to 7

Body modifiers:
short neck
short waist (when I gain weight it goes to my belly)
long legs
narrow calves
“dainty” ankles
my heels are much narrower than my toes

ETA: I'm attaching some photos from when I first joined YLF and was trying to figure out my body type.

I can't find anything close to an identical twin here, but there are so many entries that maybe I've got confused. If someone else sees themselves in my stats, please pipe up! Here's me:

height: 5'1"
weight: 103 lbs
bust: 33.5
waist: 27.5
hips: 34
bra size: 32D
shoes: size 5.5 or 6

I'm pretty sure I'm a slender rectangle, with either hourglass or inverted triangle tendencies.

Body modifiers:

slender arms, small hands
angular shoulders (tendency toward inverted triangle? but my shoulders aren't 'linebacker' at all, which is how Imogen describes IT)
short waist -- the rest is evenly proportioned
shapely legs, dainty ankles

Well, I haven't seen my twin yet but Debbie is the closest. I have very small shoulders, a large bust (34DD), thick in the middle right now (a little overweight), normal size hips and thin calves. I wear size 6-8 tops and 6,8, or 10 pants. I've always been a pear but with my weight gain, I might be a rectangle. Weird body shape but a lot of it is hidden in clothes. I can look pretty good in the right clothes.

Awesome Carole-- I looked at your pictures! I think you are right-- we are pretty close, although I am curvier than you are on the bottom. I really like that Cha Cha Vente dress on you! I think if we took Sveta's lower body and your upper body and glued them together and then shrunk the result slightly in a very hot industrial dryer( a couple of inches), and then stretched out the arms and legs using a taffy puller I'd have a body double. Unfortunately--- she would have to be a mannequin because humans aren't THAT resilient!

Okay, I had some time (avoiding school prep) so I had to go back and TRY to figure everyone's numbers and see if I have even a close relative here. . .

Maybe steph, jayne, natalie. . . ??? Am I on track?

I'm 5'5" tall
Bust 34 (32B bra)
Waist 29
Hips 39 (usually, although today they insist on being 40!)
Shoulders 41" around (this is recent from yoga -- previously quite narrow)

I've always dithered between thinking pear and/or hourglass. Now with my new strong shoulders and accompanying broader back, I feel like I'm heading into IT territory.

Modifiers: long neck, short-waisted, long rise, shortish legs

and, Nadia, your thigh profile sounds exactly like mine!!

Elisabeth, I think we might be close (!!!), though I'm a bit bigger than you all around. Also, excuse me for being so forward, but have you tried a 30DD bra? I wore a 32D for the longest time (and a 34C for a short time after some clueless Victoria's Secret saleswoman talked me into it), and the 30DD is a much better fit. Given that you're smaller than me, you might even want to try the 28E.

I've added some pictures of my body shape to my first post, so maybe those will be helpful.

Wow what an interesting thread. I have not found twins but maybe somesimilarities??
Jjsloane, marley,Queenmum.
I am 5 6 ish
I consider myself apple/rectangle depending on how I behave over the holiddays.
Large bust- 38DD
shortwaisted
waist30
hips36 I usually wear a lg top or 10-12,
Iwear a size 8-10 jeans,
Now after reading this I wonder if I am IT?
Sound familar to anyone out there?? I think it is great to find similar body types, it helps like ya'll said with sizing and sometimes a fresh idea on how to put outfits together,

I haven't seen a perfect twin yet, though I identify with Sveta's overall proportions, despite our difference in height. Overall, I seem to be the definition of "medium" when it comes to store clothing. Fairly proportional and on the tall-ish side.

I am posting numbers because I have found others' numbers helpful as opposed to daunting - my intent is solely to provide information, no judgement.

My current numbers in the bust are a bit different from my "typical" numbers since I am still nursing my baby. However overall my weight and size are luckily very stable.

5'-7", 145-150 lb
Usually Pear tending toward X-shaped Hourglass, currently fully Hourglass
slender wrists, ankles, hands, feet
bony, sharp-ish shoulders
long neck
longish arms
long-torso, mostly from being long-waisted but also long-in-the-rise
longish calves, shortish thighs
muscular lower body in general compared to upper body
size 10 bottoms (sometimes 8)
30" waist
32" low waist
40" low hips
Usually 34B bust (36"), size 6 tops
Currently 34DD (39"), size 8 tops (sometimes 10)

size 7.5 to 8 (38) shoes

So far Debby and VC sound the closest?

Some silhouettes that work well for me are:
high necklines, especially bateau but also turtlenecks
body-con tops
cinching belts
A-line and pencil skirts with hem lengths no shorter than top of knee
high-waist jeans and trousers (and skirts)
jackets with structured shoulders and nipped / tailored waists
Sheath dresses

Silhouettes that don't particularly suit me:
V-necklines
short skirts or dresses (more than 1-1.5 inches above the top of kneecap)
"modern fit" (straight-leg) trousers
boots over jeans (my calves are too muscular; boots just barely fit over thin socks)
Dresses with details at the waist (which are usually positioned too high relative to my waist)

Calling all twins...?

Kate, after looking at your pictures, I'd agree that yes, we're similar! Only I'm a bit shorter, my bust is perhaps a touch fuller and my legs are more muscular (I've been a runner all my life). It's my knees and ankles that are narrow, with muscly bits in between.

Thanks for the suggestion re. bra size -- I'm not offended in the least! -- and I have in fact tried a few 30DD bras. I couldn't get them hooked even on the loosest one. As it is I wear my 32D bras on the loosest hook, and they fit really well -- no riding up at the back, no breast tissue spilling out, and no 'back fat' issues (god I hate that term -- it's so demeaning). However, perhaps I haven't tried the right brand in bras. If they stop making the Calvin Klein ones I like, I am open to trying other brands in smaller band sizes.

Thanks for the comment, though -- I will pay extra attention to your WIW posts now.

5'4, 125-130 pounds
hourglass with IT tendencies
long body, short legs (especially from the knee down)
I don't know measurements, but I wear a 32D and am usually a 2-4 in bottoms and a 4-6 in tops
I wear size 5.5 shoes, which is kind of a pain, and I have skinny calves

And I posted as Fern before I realized there was already another Fern! Hence, slightly changed name.

Chewyspaghetti, I would like to be your twin! You are just a bit taller, lucky you. I forgot to mention my weight, it is 72 kg at the moment which is about 159 lbs....

This is fun. I am skimming through looking for other tall women to be my twin. There are a few out there that are close, but I don't see anyone who can match my inseam.

Height: 5'11.5'' (No, I'm really not 6' no matter what anyone says)
160 - 165 lbs

Bust: 38'' (34DD)
Waist: 32''
Hips: 40''

Inseam: 36'' (I can get away with 35.5'' or even 35'' if I push the pant length rules a bit and adjust my heal height).

Shoe size: 11 US, 42 EU

I'm mostly a 12 on top and bottom although I am starting to pull jackets that are a 10. Tops are usually L unless they are super stretchy or short sleeve, then I move into a M.

I think we should create at least four different threads, one for each body shape, and then maybe compare among shape peers?

I can only think of one member whose body reminds me of mine, and that's Aida, although she looks more... fit. I don't know, I think I'm softer lol

I'm not my best judge when it comes to my body, because I think I feel bigger than what I actually am -from the comments I get, and when I see pictures of myself.

I think I'm medium-boned, with broad shoulders, slim waist (though not that slim) and ok hips. My legs are long compared to my short body and, let's admit that, I look good in skirts. I have a big chest, but small back, which makes me have one of the weirdest bra sizes ever. I recognize my body in Marilyn Monroe and Scarlett Johansson, we also share the same height (5.4'').

I think I'm an hourglass, was told I was a pear by some of you here and feel like an IT. Yeah, I'm not a very coherent person.

Tallwoman-- I believe Kyle and Ornella are the tallest here and have not yet posted into this thread.

Elly, you are too funny, literally laughing out loud! I'm going to have to get some help and measure my wingspan, so curious to see how I measure up! Anyway, nice to have a sistah!

I "think" my twin is Mo, because the measurements and photos seem to confirm this. I am 5' 3-1/2", #110-112#, have a long neck, long torso, but short legs, with a 32D bust, 26" waist, and 35" (guessing on the last two) measurements. I may be an hourglass and my sizing is usually a 2 or 4 and, in tops or shirts, a petite. For example my BB shirts are 2P. In jeans and skinnies, I wear a 27, 4a at GAP. In real life, I am fraternal twin, and my sister has a completely different body. While I'm small, soft and curvy, she is probably an athletic inverted triangle, because she has broader shoulders and a less-defined waist, similar in size to her hips, which are are smaller than mine.

Okay, I realize this is an oldish post, but I just now read it. .

Am I really the shortest person here??! I'm 5' 1/4", measurements approximately 30-25-34.5. I'm somewhat hourglass, but also kind of pear. I generally weigh somewhere between 95 and 100 lbs. I wear an XXSP/00P or smaller (which means I'm "sized out" of lots of places and go to the tailor a lot).

Where is my twin??

shoppingisfun, you sound like a shorter version of me (not that I'm tall, I'm 5 ft 3). I'm also hourglass but kinda pear.

I missed this thread the first time around, but I'm chiming in now that the thread has been revived. It looks like I'm closest to Cobaltblue in measurements, although she's a little slimmer in the hips. But hey, I'm 50 now! I used to have smaller hips.

Height: 5'5"
Weight: between 120-125
Bust: 32C
Waist: 27 inches
Hips: 37 inches
Shape: slim hourglass

I'm very slightly short-waisted and long-legged...but generally proportional

Size: For dresses and blouses, usually a 6 or Small...sometimes a 4
For pants and skirts, almost always a 4
Denim varies between a 27 and 28, depending on the brand/cut

A bit late to the party but here goes:

Why does everyone else seem proportioned with long legs? Not that I have freakishly short legs, just an 11/2 inch heel and PPL fixes me up.

Height: 5'9", 128 lbs.
Bust: 34C
Waist: 28
Hips: 38

I've got a long neck, proportioned long from chin to bust, and have a long rise, longwaisted. Am very glad that low-rise pants are finally gone!

I usually wear a 8 or 10 in tops (10 for jackets for sure) and a 6 or an 8 in pants. Kind of an hourglass fading into pear.

Gingko, I am long waisted and short legged. I am 5"4 'and only 30 inches of that is leg (inseam)!

I am joining in late as well. Kappy and Marianna, think we might have similarities:

I am 5'9"
Hourglass
My legs are proportionally shorter, and no matter how thin I am my thighs are ROUND
Size 16-18 here in Aust so about a 14 in US
Size 11/42 in shoes
"best room in the house" is the shoulder/bust/waist space and try and camoflauge the rest
Think I am a US DDD cup, F/G in Uk sizes

Share a few things with some others - clues on SHOES are most welcome, then jackets and tops. Pants I find and hoard carefully until the next time I am lucky enough to find winners!
Jen

Realise I'm late to the party here but Shoppingisfun I think I might be relatively close to you!

I'm 5'2"' (a wee bit taller than you) and about 105 - 110lb

Bust 32C
Waist 24"
Hips 33.5"

Strangely I'm not petite at all, although for years I though I must be! Waist seems to be regular - not short or long and I wear a 32" leg length with heels, 30" without.

I wear a UK size 6 mostly (sometimes an 8) , is this about a US 2-4?

Some of the shops here have really weird sizing that assumes a smaller ratio of bust to waist to hip and I find if things fit on the bust/hip they are massive on the waist, and things that fit on the waist won't even come past my thighs! I find I'm 'sized out' in many places too.
