Another late poster, but this is such an interesting thread idea.

Clearlyclaire, cinnamon fern and lyn* could be my twins? Kate, who posted her pics on this thread 1 month ago seems very, very similar. Her hips are widest at the low hip and her shoulders are a tad wider than hips. Anyway, I'm going to lurk all of you from now on.

I recently started my own bodyshape thread, so my picture is available there for reference (I got the IT/slim hourglass verdict). I also have bony, square shoulders and a giraffe neck. My legs are slim and slightly longer than my torso and to my understanding I have regular waist, not long or short.

Edit: if we want numbers, approx. 39" shoulders, 35"-27.5"-37" and 33.5" inseam at 5'8 ft. The shoulder circumference is a bit tricky to measure without an extra pair of hands.

Oh body twins... I bet I don't have any I have such an unusual body type - a rectangle/apple in a sea of hourglasses and pears

5'3
large bust (34E)
very very very very thick waist (33.75")
very short torso (13" center back neck to waist measurement)
Small hips (38.5")

It's VERY TOUGH finding clothes for me

Hi Patty,

Even though you are several inches taller than I am, based on your measurements, I think you and I have a very similar body type. At least you and Carole seem to come closest.

Mrs Moo, you're right, we are pretty close (except you actually have a bust). How are you not petite with a 30" inseam? The petite pants here (I'm in the US) generally have a 30" inseam, which tends to fit me perfectly with my approx 3" heels. I'm honestly not sure whether I have long legs or short for my height, am high or low waisted, etc.

I somehow missed this the first time around! I skimmed through the whole thread, and it doesn't sound like I have a twin - maybe just a few cousins with whom I share similarities. =o) Seems like those with the most similarities to me are Kate, Nadia, Jewell, Sveta, and Ginkgo.

As for me:
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 145ish
Dress: 4/6
Shoe: 10½ (and what a pain that is since most people stop making half sizes at 9½!)
Very small bust
Very short-waisted
Long legs
Long arms
Small frame/bones
Hips about a size bigger - disproportionate to torso (so... inverted triangle? IDK.)
Actual measurements: 34-28-39

Any twins, or even sisters out there? How about any shoe-half-sizes-over-9½ who want to complain about the shoe injustice together?

Gate-crashing this party spectacularly late, but hey, why not.
I'm part of the plus-size club alongside Abie, Marianna and Kappi. I'm currently a 16W pretty much right across the board except for my waist, which is far and away the smallest part of me. At all stages of my drastic weight fluctiations I've been an hourglass with pear tendencies, though in recent years I've had to keep certain apple guidelines in mind (it's a veritable fruit bowl over here). I have strong hopes that my size will continue to change, but proportionally I likely won't shift much. I'm 5-8 with fairly standard-issue legs (33-inseam is usually perfett for flats).

I'd also just like to say that this thread has brought the best supportive traits of this community to the fore. The lack of judgment, collaborative spirit and welcome affirmation for those of us who struggle with these things are rare indeed and most welcome. Thank you all.

Somehow missed this tread before, but it was an interesting read. It seems that I am most similar to velvetychocolate and MamaKate .

I am 5'6'', about 149 lb, wear clothes size 8-10, shoes 8.5 and 36C bra. I have relatively evenly proportional soft hourglass body (40'-30'-40') with some leftover baby belly.

Almost whole of my adult life I used to be trim size 6, but my body changed drastically with my last pregnancy and I am still not completely used to this new body. I am just learning how to have fun with fashion again.

Hi body twin hope you're out there as I'd love to compare notes. I'm a juicy bootilicious pear (even if I do say so myself).
Height: 5 foot 9 inches
Weight: 186 lbs
Bust: 36.5 in (36b)
Under bust: 31 in
Waist : 31 in
Hips: 46.5 in
Inside leg: 33 in
Head to shoulder: 11.5 in
Shoukder to hip: 19.5in
Hip to knee: 19 in
Knee to floor 19 in

Where are you bootylicious twin sister ?

kimana517, I'm brand-new so you haven't seen me around, but I think we're pretty close to being twins - tall, mostly slender, pear/hourglasses, and proportionately short-waisted.

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 145ish (I'm working on losing 10-15 pounds I've put on in the last 2 years)
Dress: 4/6
Shoe: 9 (smallish feet - it's hereditary)
Small bust (32D)
Short-waisted (for height)
Wide-hipped, high hipped
Long rise
Long legs
"Hips about a size bigger - disproportionate to torso" (Check!)
Actual measurements: 34-28-41 (will be 34-28-39 when I lose the weight)

I don't know my measurements yet, but I think they may be similar to Katje.

I'm 5'7", 160 lbs. I wear a 12 or 14 in most things (Thankfully, fitting into more 12s recently). My bra size is 40D but I'm still nursing and expect that to shrink this summer. Both my wide shoulders and large post-baby belly cause me the biggest fit issues with tops. I'm still asked fairly frequently when the baby is due, even though I weigh less and am a smaller clothing size than I was pre-kids.

My "natural waist," the smallest part of my short torso, is a full 4 or 5" above my belly button. I have a flat bottom and very long legs.

I wear an 8W in nearly all shoes.

This looks like fun!
~I'm 5'4
~Medium build
~Size 14/16 Misses - Lg/XL
~8 Shaped Hourglass - slightly wider shoulders visually so may tend to IT???
~Short waisted, High hip, 2" between hip and rib
~Busty 40H (over bust measurement - 36" under bust)
~Around shoulders: 47", Fullest Bust: 46", Waist: 36", Fullest Hips: 47" (Working on shrinking after 5 babies!)
~Bootylicious
~Defined waist
~Short neck
~Big calves (hard to fit boots!) but little wrists and ankles
~Size 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 shoes, depending
~Very high arches
~Long rise
~Longer torso than bottom 1/2
~Inseam: 29" to bottom of foot

Off to read posts to find my twin!!

Wow!  I love this kind of thread.  Sorry to revive so late, but Claire just linked to it, and I have to know who my twin is!

My closest matches allowing for a size up or down or slight variation in height seem to be lyn*, mrseccentric, MNSara, and Ginkgo.  Do any of you recognize yourself in my proportions?

height: 5'6.5"
weight: 142lbs.
shoulders: 41" around
bust: 36.5"
underbust: 32"ish
waist: 28.5"
hips: 38.5"
shoe size: 8.5
inseam: 29.5" or so

long chest, short waist, long rise, short legs especially in the calf

I think I'm an X-shaped hourglass with a strong shoulder line and pear tendencies.

This is really a fun thread! But I'm having trouble finding a twin. Every time I think I have one, I get to bra size and it's all over.
I'm pretty much a rectangle with a hint of pear.
5'5'', 129 lbs
small chest - barely 34 A
short-waisted, long legs and arms, narrow calves
smallish head, longish neck
I'm feeling very awkward and alien-like as I read this over!
Is there anyone out there like me?

Viva, you might be wearing the wrong bra size. A lot of ladies are. I wore 34A or B ten years ago. Now I'm in 32C or 30D or DD when I can find them. My breasts are not bigger, I just got better fit. (28" underbust and 34.5" bust)
Beyond that, we may have some similarities.

Ok, I take back my previous comment. After looking again, I think my most useful size and fit comparisons will be Mo and Janet.

Mo, I'm about a size bigger (6) with about 2 inches on you in the torso.

Janet, we are the same size, but your inseam is like 3 inches longer!

At least I know that clothes will fit the three of us pretty similarly, so this is useful information

Ok here goes ..
I'm among the Plus sized out there ..grabbing measuring tape..
underbust 38 inches
full bust 46 -47inches( I wear a 40H bra usually)
Waist 41
High hip 55
low hip 57
inseam 32-33 for flats
I wear a 10 WW best in shoes or a 11 /11w depending on the last . I've noticed that I tend to find a better fit in shoes from Brazil or Italy and may have to size up to a 12 for a Made in China shoe.A 43 in European size shoes is about perfect. Boot shopping is nearly impossible as I have to find a ankle circumference of 12.5 inches and a calf of 21 inches.
My neck is average length,my torso is shortwaisted (6 inches from the underbust to my natural waist about 2.5 -3 inches from the bottom of my rib cage to my natural waist -where my waist creases when I bend at the side)
I have a fullish rear and a bit of a tummy and heavy thighs .I currently weigh around 265 right now (10/18/13) and wear 18/20-1x--22/24-2x in most clothing . I consider myself to be a pear/hourglass as my hips measure larger than my fullbust or shoulders(which are slightly narrower than my hips and don't sloape or square all that much.)
Hope this helps someone sometime!

I never responded a year ago. . .

I think I have pearish tendencies. . .

5' 1" (but I used to be 5' 1.75"!!)
37" sloping shoulders measured around by myself
33" bust, 28F bra since 28" underbust (but until a few months ago I thought I was 32DD with a loose band since that is what is available in b'n'm stores)
26" waist
34-35" hips
Very, very long torso with long waist so regular size peplum tops seem to hit better than Petites
I carry my weight in my upper and lower legs and, to a certain extent my upper arms so my torso is about two sizes smaller than my legs, so no skinny pants for me!

I think my closest body doubles are citygirlDC and Sarah (whom I haven't *seen* around for awhile).

Liz, you and I are very close in height and weight and measurements. I'm quite short-torsoed though, and my legs are long. In reading a recent thread about elliptical vs. round body shapes, I'm also more aware than I am definitely elliptical -- wider rather than deep. Flat belly, not much of a bum, but wide hips and fairly broad shoulders for my frame.

So amazing the ways the human body varies!

I think that the body shape that most closely suits me is rectangle.

Height: 5'2"
Bust: 30" (32A)
Waist: 24"
Hips: 33"
Preferred inseam: approx. 29-30"

I am short waisted and have a small bust. I don't have much of a rear end; the hips are wide rather than deep. I think that I may be what is called an 8 in Imogen's system--I just checked out her blog today. Any figure 8's on the forum?

Another late poster! Hm, there are so many variables that I'm having trouble figuring out who might be my "twin." Breaking this down into general aspects of descriptions so that I can see who might match me in each of these areas:

Shape: between hourglass (figure 8) to inverted triangle (V)
muscular legs (both thighs and calves--this is the one reason that IT clothing recommendations don't work, as they assume thinner legs)

Measurements:
height: 5'3"
weight: usually between 127 and 130, but I think this is shifting more toward fat as I get older
bust: 34C
measurements: a few years ago I was 35-27-37, but I think I might have to add half an inch to them nowadays
sizes: almost always 6P in both tops and bottom at Ann Taylor and J Crew but on large side of 6P at some other retailers (e.g., Boden, BR), or small side of MP; 28-29 in jeans (29 for the thighs but they tend to bag around the rear view); 8W to 8.5M in shoes

Proportions: petite
round (as opposed to elliptical)
short neck
short arms
strong shoulders

The funny thing is I always thought I had short legs, which should mean that I have a long torso, but if I have short legs and yet am almost at the height limit of petite sizing, doesn't this imply that I should fit regular sizes on top? But no, I need petite sizing for both length (arms, legs, torso -- actually I still need arms shortened) and width (in the ribcage).

I can find height/weight twins, and height/shape twins, but not petite size/shape twins. A couple of the "anonymous" posters and ButterflyLady, may be close in terms of shape/proportions though; a couple of people are similar but slimmer (e.g., Sylvie, Ruth, Cinnamon Fern) -- I'll keep an eye out for all of your posts though. Thanks to the OP for starting this!

Viva, Mo's right about the bra size -- i suspect you're in the wrong band width. And there are others like you! (Me, for one -- at least in that department!) We are close in height, too, but I don't have your longer limbs.

Trix, you sound somewhat close to me in proportion although I am 5'1". I'm 120 pounds at the moment, 32DD, size 4 or 6 (P depending on brand), and a round IT with little waist definition and proportionate legs. However I have no hourglass tendencies and my legs are muscle but quite skinny.

I think you're right! Don't know how I missed it earlier...the "flat derriere" was one thing I didn't include in my description but should have. If only the fat in front (the stomach) would migrate a bit to the back and down (the rear view). So we should probably be looking at a lot of the same tops, even if I can't pull off the skinnies so well...

I've often wished I could siphon some body fat around! I look forward to getting to know your style!

I hope it's not too late to add to this conversation! I just found it.

Height: 5'3.5"
Weight: 127
Bra size: 32D
Bust: 35.5"
Waist: 28.5"
Hips: 37"
Body Type: IT (with 39" shoulders (I wasn't sure exactly how low on my arms to measure...at what point does a shoulder measurement include the arms?)
I'm not sure what my secondary body type is...when I look at pictures of myself I look hippy, so maybe it's a pear?
Jeans size 27 (or sometimes 28 for a looser fit)
Tops XS-M/6-8 depending on brand

I have a high waist and my legs always look short to me in pictures, but according to this ratio http://ladyshortlegs.blogspot......tions.html I am average (although I measured myself, so perhaps I should get someone to help me)

From looking at the replies in this post, I think that my body type is similar to those of Brenda, Kelly, Trix and Una.

Unless we have another 5.8, size 6-8, curvy latina on board, which is kind of a "white elephant" on its own kind, I am abandoning my search for a body twin. Seeing lots of you IRL made me realize I am much unlike anyone in this forum, even if we are at the same size range. It's allright! Fun thread.

Hi Zapotee I know the feeling - lots of pear shapes on the forum but none that quite match my body type. Just checked the weight on my original post and I'm a bit lighter than my original post currently at 182 pounds with 17 pounds to loose.

Ok.

I will give this a shot. I am not really curvy now that becoming a mom/time have filled in my waist. I am not willowy or angular either. I don't see my body type around much although I did see some recognition when I watched the Olympics. While definitely not a professional athlete :), I have the tall and strong body type.

Although I have long legs because I am on the tall side, I am not short or long- waisted--I'm pretty proportionate on top and bottom.

I am almost 5' 9" with measurements 38-30-38.

I am incredibly full busted so while most size 10s fit well for tops and bottoms, jackets and button downs can pull a little.

Where are you twin????

Ooh, I'm interested in giving this a try.

Height: 5'4 (166cm)
Weight: 167.5lbs (76kg)
Bra Size: 36C or 36D
Bust: 41"
Waist: 34"
Hips: 43"
Top Size: AU 12-14
Bottom Size: AU 14-16
Shoe Size: AU 7-7.5
Foot Type: Duck
Body Type: Hourglass
Secondary Body Type: Pear

My bra size could be inaccurate because I've gained some weight over the past couple of months. Also, I'm not actually sure if I'm an hourglass since my bust is 2" smaller than my hips, but my shoulders align exactly with my hips and I have a short waist, so I'm going with that classification for the time being.

*crosses fingers and hopes to find a twin*
