OK, so I'm not officially shopping anymore, but I just thought I should mention that I recently fell in love with this lovely bag...

Shopping at Nordies in Seattle we did a pass through the handbag department. This coach bag caught my eye, I picked it up, felt the lovely leather, threw it over my shoulder, looked for the price, couldn't find it, put it away.

Fast forward, I'm back home and stumble across it online. To my shock and amazement I discover that it is also worn as a CROSSBODY! My fav! Oh dear. It can be carried both ways. Love.

In my longer term plan, I am hoping to add back more cognac accents so this baby will fit right in.

Anybody have this? I went a long time not liking Coach b/c I wasn't enamoured with all of the Coach Outlet bags out there. But this one seems different.

I'd appreciate your thoughts. I'll probably hold out until next year but you never know...sale lasts till Aug 4. Boy am I sick with FOMO.

Great pet. Fab quality. You have to be at peace with the shape of a bucket bag though - it can be impractical.

It looks like a classic bucket bag. The cognac is very nice, and should look good on you. You might be able to find the same style in a vintage Coach bag on Ebay. Do you just lengthen the strap to carry it cross-body?

The newer Coach bags are gorgeous. I agree, stay out of the Coach outlets. They are deadly and will kill your love for the brand.

Oh, I really like this bag. It's a shame Coach cheapened their brand with all of their outlet crap. However, a true Coach bag is a thing of beauty. I have a cream leather one with pewter accents that has been going strong for several years. It's one of my favorite bags...and no loud C logos to be seen. This one looks like a true classic. That cognac is gorgeous. And that seems like a really good price if the leather is nice. Good luck holding out on that one...I can totally understand if you cave

I had a similar reaction to this bag, Jackie. I haven't liked many of the Coach offerings for several years, but this one got my attention. It's beautiful (and did you notice it comes in olive--my preferred neutral??). I am not in the market for this type of bag at the moment, though, and I'm unsure of the bucket shape (I'm afraid I would find it bulky to carry). But if you like this shape, it's certainly a classic that you could carry for years. How difficult would a return be if you changed your mind?

Wow, you had me at crossbody. I am checking it out in black. I have a feeling it will be a return since I'm 5'2" and this might dwarf me, but actually, this seems like a perfect MOTG bag.

I'm not sure about the impracticality of a bucket bag. Is it because it makes things too hard to find? Hopefully I can solve that with keeping my stuff in little zippered bags.

Oh man, I didn't need to see that. I love the olive color. The switch from cross-body to shoulder, so perfect for MOTG to non-kid time. I have an older coach, 10+ years old, and it is still going strong. Any birthdays?Anniversaries coming up? It would be a gift right then not a buy.

I noticed these in NAS. I was coveting the olive one. If it were grey I would have already bought it!

I have a vintage bucket bag in British Tan. It's probably twenty years old. It is not a cross body - I guess the strap is longer now. The old ones don't have a lining. Also mine's base is absolutely round. I think the new ones are oval so they lie closer to your body. Mine is gorgeous and it is huge. I am 5'6" and have a hard time reaching the bottom inside. I love it, though. I take it when I need to bring a lot of stuff. When my husband had a medical procedure I had to wait there. So I took my iPad, a book, and a small knitting project, and had space to spare.

It's a beautiful colour. Love it!

I love, love, love the look of this bag.

But warning -- I had one of these from Roots for years. Fantastic quality. BUT SUCH A PITA!!!! Everything falls to the depths, never to be found again. At least that is how it worked in my experience.

I don't think I have a problem with the bucket bag. I do prefer bags like this with a wee bit of softness but I like the size. Jeez you should see my current bags...deep black holes some of them.

I have a similar Coach bag in navy, with a pink pocket on the outside. It is a fabulous bag. Unfortunately, I agree about outlets. I will sometimes stalk them for boutique deletes, but I won't buy MFF bags.
