Feedback wanted

I have several questions regarding this outfit and appreciate all feedback, both negative and positive. Honesty appreciated! I have absolutely no eye for dressing myself!

1. Is this skirt yay or nay? Too short? Needs to be tapered slightly?

2. Is the top a go with the skirt? It's navy/white, not black/white.

3. What about these gladiators with it? Closeup pic included.

4. If not on the glads any other suggestions?

5. Is the top too widening with the stripes?

Anything else??

I really like the sandals. The top may be a size too big.

The top may be a tad too big, but you could rein in the volume by tucking and/or belting perhaps? I think showing more of the skirt would be more flattering too, and belting/tucking should hike up the top a bit.

I think you are showing a great flair here, TeeCee! I don't think the skirt is too short for a casual summer piece, although a little more taper might be ideal, but not necessary.

LOVE the sandals, with the outfit, too! Wear these often!

I'm trying to get over trying to dress "skinny" all the time. YLF is helping me alot with this, helping me see that good proportions and fit are a must, but that dressing to camoflauge one's flaws isn't necessary to look fab, and is certainly not as fun! Most stripes are fine for girls who are not model sized, and this proportion works for you completely. If avaiable, you could try a size smaller, take in the sides abit, or belt, since I agree with Traci that it might be a tad (just a tad) on the large sized. Sometimes I have trouble with sleeves like these, though -- you don't want stripes to be too tight around the bicep.

Thanks ladies! I actually pulled the top down as I thought the longer length was how to wear these, lol. I'll try tucking/belting later and post a pic.

I see what you all mean about the top being a bit big. I hadn't even noticed that! I can take it up a bit in the side seams and see how that looks.

It's amazing how you can still be the same basic shape but putting on a few pounds makes clothes SO much harder to fit, as if I've gained weight in all the most awkward places. I've only gone up one size but everything pulls, tugs, squeezes, bags, etc. Arg.

Beth Ann, I totally hear you. I'm trying to dress for the body I have in a fun way rather than creating some illusive fantasy. I do still have a stripe paranoia though.

Can we see the top tucked into the skirt? I don't think the stripes are too widening at all.

The sandals are cute.

The top is a wee bit too big in the shoulders to my eye; otherwise it's cute. Same with the sandals. Cute style, but I'm pretty sure your toes are supposed to hit the stitching. If you put your weight on your feet, do they do that?

Oh, I like this outfit! I love the yellow skirt and the blue and white stripes. The shoes are modern and fab! I would like to see more of the skirt too. Maybe a more fitted and short striped T? Definitely try tucking and/or belting this one though; that might do the trick! You look great!

I like this outfit just as is. I don't think the top is too big, but then again I routinely wear oversized tops. I really like everything going on here! The stripes and neon yellow skirt are so on trend, making my eyes happy.

Love the skirt and I think the length is great for a casual summer piece. The sandals are fantastic and work well with the outfit. The t-shirt works well with the skirt and I really like the neckline detail. You could try a size down but I think this works as well. Very pretty!

I like the two together, but the shirt is pretty voluminous to be worn with a boxy skirt. See if tucking helps. Also, wear black sandals to pull out the black from the stripes. Love the stripes with the bright yellow, though, very cute combo!

ETA, sorry, on my little screen the stripes looked black...it appears they are blue, so I'm OK with the brown sandals.

I like the top and the shoes a lot. I like the skirt too, but think that with this it might work better if it were a bit narrower or longer.

Super cute sandals! I like the skirt, but I think this shirt is a bit big for it. I like the idea of trying it tucked. Have you ever tried this top with something slimmer on the bottom? A straight leg pant or slim bottom of some sort? But I think overall this is a great simple summer look!

Actually I like it as is. The shirt is a bit big but I think it works here. I adore the sandals and they totally work here.

not fond of the sandals. sorry...

too many staps and doodads, but not chunky enough. the high ankle strap also seems to shorten your leg.

but this is just my opinion.

Thank you again everyone. I'll repost this with the shirt tucked, belted, and semi tucked tomorrow. I do have some white skinnies but can't fit into them at the moment.

DonnaF, good catch on the shoes. I never noticed as I had my thoughts on the skirt/top. They do look funny, lol. Are they shoes or swim fins?? I don't think I can wear a smaller size due to how the top part fits so I'm going to price having them shortened and restitched.
