Update to this thread: 20 minutes ago Ethan turned 12. I just wanted to mention that I did order the J.Crew navy sweatshirt, but we decided to save it for Christmas because John had already planned to get him a really nice skateboard and I hadn't told him of my plans to buy the sweatshirt. (Apparently we don't communicate well in our house...) Rather than have two big birthday gifts, we opted to save mine for Christmas. Even I understand that as much as Ethan will love the cashmere, it really can't compete with a fancy new skateboard. He is a 12 year old boy after all! That being said, I don't think I have ever been prouder of him than when he saw Adam Levine on "The Voice" wearing a pink tee and he said "oh Mom, can you imagine how cool it would be if I had a pink cashmere shirt?!" I almost re-made my own pink cashemere top for him on the spot! But logic prevailed when I realized that I probably would have ruined it and then neither of us would have pink cashmere. That would just be wrong...

So, now I wait till Christmas, and am left in awe that my baby is 12. I think maybe I should be sad somehow, but the kid just keeps getting more and more fun and interesting and awesome. I did have a moment last week though of wishing he would stay little forever when he saw a Victoria Secret commercial and said "why on earth would anyone want pink eyebrows?" When I explained that they were talking about pink bras, the look of faint disgust on his face was priceless.

This is the original thread:
So... Ethan's 12th birthday is in December and I have had a crazy thought that I wondered if you all would like to participate in. I feel like this is pretty extravagant for a child, but I would love to buy a cashmere sweatshirt or sweater for him. He has recently become obsessed with cashmere. I have only two cashmere items myself and as soon as he touched it for the first time, Ethan was done for. He actually asked to sleep in my pink top one night. I let him, and it made him so happy. I have argued with myself over this for all of the obvious reasons - he will grow out of it, won't be careful with it, it's too expensive for a child, we live in FLORIDA for Pete's sake! But... It's his birthday, he grows slowly, he likes oversized tops, he adores sweatshirts (even in the summer), we keep our house cold, and did I mention that it is his birthday?

Am I crazy? If not, would you like to help me pick it out? I am definitely leaning more towards sweatshirt than sweater - he is a little skateboarding dude after all... I did find some at J.Crew but haven't looked further. Although he is turning 12, he is no bigger than most 10 year olds, but he does prefer to wear things much baggier than needed. I'm guessing something like youth-large or 10/12 would be in the right neighborhood.

Anyway, since you all have taken my funny stylish boy into your hearts, I wondered if you might like to participate?
