I'm sorry for the delay, but here's the account of our wonderful day in London.

Early last Tuesday I hopped the Eurostar to London, very excited to finally meet Jean and Fiona (londonkiwi). When the train arrived at St. Pancras Station, the sun was shining abundantly and I got my first glimpse of the much missed Marks & Spencer (I love their food selection!!).

My first stop was the Tate Modern, a fantastic building right next to the Thames. At the moment they have a wonderful Diane Arbus photo exhibition, but the museum is worth a visit all year round, the collections are vast and there are so many riveting and beautiful pieces! After browsing the amazing museum shops, it was already time to go find Fiona and her beautiful baby girl, Vanessa. She was a vision in an adorable pink smocked dress and has definitely inherited her Mum's gorgeous blue eyes.
Fiona looked fab in her stylish MOTG outfit consisting of a floral paisley blouse, black cami, bootcut jeans and pewter sandals.

Together we headed to the other museum entrance where we welcomed and hugged Jean, who looked equally fab in her animal print top, cropped black blazer, dark jeggings and brown Frye boots (all the colours complementing her stunning red hair and green eyes). We laughed about the fact that I had picked a very similar outfit and then went straight on to the Tate Modern Café to have a spot of lunch and to get to know each other better.

This was my third YLF meet-up, and I don't know what it is about YLF lasses (except that you are all very fab, smart, sweet and super stylish!!) but there's yet to be an awkward moment.
It didn't take us long before we were chatting about everything, from art, fundraising, the health care system to plays and exhibitions, halloumi, clothes and colours, UK members like Dawn and Ele who haven't been around for a while (we miss you!) and the UK lasses who unfortunately couldn't make it this time around (we missed you too!).

When our tummies were full, we crossed the bridge and walked to a nearby mall to start the shopping part of our day and try to find a great pair of pants for Fiona. Jean and I really enjoyed browsing some UK shops we don't have in the US and Belgium, and Vanessa was an absolute trooper. She normally takes a nap in the afternoon, but stayed awake the entire time, and seemed to love hanging out with her Mum's shopping friends, patiently waiting while we tried on clothes and taking everything in with her gorgeous blue eyes. I was SO impressed!

We hit the jackpot at River Island, where Fiona not only found a great pair of dark-wash bootcut jeans, but amazing dark red skinnies too:

Here she is modelling them in a recent post:

At H&M Fiona discovered a super little plaid blazer, when I saw the elbow patches I wouldn't let her leave the shop without it, luckily she agreed;-)

Jean fell in love with this stunning patterned dress with a bit of an All Saints vibe. They were out of her size, so I'm holding thumbs that she was able to snap it up in another H&M store. (Do tell, Jean!-)

I got to visit my very first Banana Republic store and quickly bought a cropped cardigan in an amazing shade of purple:

And then I was persuaded by my two shopping friends to get a grey scarf with white polka dots at Oliver Bonas. (They did *not* need to twist my arm).

We managed to get a picture of Fiona modelling a cute hat that reminded her of the Queen at Ted Baker's before we were told off for snapping photos;-) That didn't stop us from swooning over their gorgeous Fall collection, the craftmanship and detailing on the clothes is astonishing and the colours are divine.

While we were resting our feet for a bit at a sweet little park and got our picture taken, we all agreed that we had lucked out with the weather and we enthusiastically started planning next year's meet-up. Just so you know: we have high hopes that Angie and Greg might be able to join us;-)

And then it was time for Fiona and me to catch our trains back home and for Jean to meet up with her husband and students. I cannot believe how quickly the day went by, we certainly weren't done talking (nor shopping) yet!
Jean, Fiona and Vanessa, it was an absolute delight to meet you and spend the day with you. Thank you so much for making my first outing to London in many years such a huge success, I cannot wait to catch up again with you next year. And, once again, thank you Angie and Greg for creating this amazing forum that makes irl meet-ups worldwide possible!

P.S. Jean took most of the pictures last week and has promised to post them when she's back home. In the meantime, here's one of the four of us at the park (the sun made us squint:-).
