Have had these on a slew of clients over the last few days (myself included). They are extremely comfortable but you’ll need to adjust your eyes to the silhouette. Very 80’s and slouchy. They slouch down when you wear them. They are not rigid like the picture shows. KILLER with skinnies. They are better on – trust me.

Size up half a size. I have a size 7 and usually take 6.5. Perfect for MOTG.

Wow! I made an Angie approved purchase before I even knew it was approved. Unfortunately, I ordered my usual size. I'm wondering if I should order another pair a half size up just in case.

AND they come in Cognac! Angie, I am usually in between a 7.5 and an 8. *Usually* I wear 8 (but I take an 8.5 in Me Too flats). Do you think I'd take an 8.5? How are they for width?

Hmmm. My client whom I shopped with today is usually a 7.5 and she bought an 8. I'd get an 8.5, Brianna. They are normal width but very soft so they’ll stretch.

Why did I put myself on a shopping ban? WHY?!

I walked right past them several times during NAS, too. Didn't even think they would be slouchy or better-looking on the leg. Hrm. Okay, I am going to try to convince myself they are a casual boot and I need dressier ones for work. Let's hope that appeases my inner boot monster.

Great! A few takers for the look. It just goes to show how deceiving displays can be. That’s why we can’t leave a retail stone unturned !

I’m warning you though, this is an alternative look. This look was hot in London in 2007 (at the start of the 80’s inspired trends) and I saw everyone wearing them there, so I HAD to get a cream pair and be in on the look too. I LOOOOVE my cream pair. They are a favourite. So don’t be startled if you think they look awful at first. Skinnies are a no brainer with this style.

Oh, I wish these came in cream! Then I would be all over them too. Slouchy cream boots were sooooooo hot in the 80s.

Hmm, 11 inch height? Isn't that short? Won't it hit at an unflattering part of the calf? How does this work.... inquiring minds want to know (maybe you need to do a blog post with pics... ?)

I will pass for the moment, as I have some Frye's on order from NAS, should arrive tomorrow - along with some other stuff - I'm keeping mute about what I ordered until I see what I'm keeping, if anything!!! I am hoping it's not a big pile of disappointment

Shiny, these boots sort of collapse and slouch down because the leather is very soft. They don't stay up. This shortens their length on your leg. Also, they are voluminous, which I find a lot more flattering than a sleek boot at a shorter height on the leg.

I liked the look of these boots in the store, but I didn't realize they're supposed to be slouchy, so I thought they would be too short and didn't try them on. Angie, if they are "alternative" are there limitations or guidelines on the style of outerwear to go with them? And are they only for pants?

You could wear these with frocks, walk shorts and skirts. Lasses in HK successfully pull off the look as if it were clams and flats! I think the number one guideline is that your eye has to adjust to the look. Once you have your head around it – you can start experimenting. Perhaps I’ll write a blog post about it once my boots arrive (they ran out of my size in stores). Nordies are having the best Anniversary Sale sales figures to date. Isn’t that amazing? For a recession? I got a little insider info from CEO Blake Nordstrom through someone I know. I'm happy for Nordies.

That's impressive about Nordie's sales. Wow. I must say that it's well deserved. Except for Nordie's shoe buyers. That was so disappointing compared to the apparel. They need to take their game up a couple of notches!

p.s. I will say that the kids' shoes were great. There. I hope I made them feel better

I tried these on at the pre-sale because I thought they looked good too. I ended up passing them up but since I took back the SW boots maybe I should reconsider. I had forgotten all about considering them although they keep catching my eye. I tried them on with clams but I didn't realize they were supposed to slouch more. I normally wear 7.5-8 and the 8 felt fine to me. I do have narrower foot. I definitely would have to adjust my eye to the look on me though. Hmmm...

What color do you recommend, Angie?

Thanks Angie, looking forward to the blog! If they are slouchy as you describe, I could def. see them with skinnies or a sack dress, but I am not sure if I have a top layer that would work.
That's good about Nordies - sounds like they played the recession right. I wonder about profit margins, considering they're practically giving away all these leather jackets I haven't bought anything for myself, but we got quite a bit for DH and kids' shoes as well. I'll try to make it back to the store to check out these boots.

I wasn't sure about how these would look with dresses, but then I saw this picture which changed my mind a bit. If I had some spare cash, I just might try them! I noticed they are already sold out of the cognac in my size.

Marianna, those boots are pretty and quite comfy. But not as comfy as the Star Lings. (But remember, I have very fussy feet).

I think the key to a slouchy short boot is volume in the right place. It keeps the look grounded. Otherwise you look like you’re going to topple over. Much like a lollipop. Julie’s picture describes the look perfectly. LOVE it.

So, I’d try both pairs, Marianna.

Is a sleeker silhouette all over clothing-wise generally better with voluminous boots? Definitely a blog post is in order for tips on how to wear voluminous boots.

Ok, I can't get these boots off my mind. They are definitely not my usual style, but I'm always looking for a good way to hide my Smartwool socks in cold weather. I bought the NAS Halogen corduroy jacket in gold, and I'm liking the idea of something very classic on top (jacket over a blouse or turtleneck) and jeans contrasted with the slouchiness on bottom. Am I on the right track or way off base?

Angie - My thoughts are similar to Boof's. I'm just under 5'3'', a size 4 and just turned 50 (another Cancer in the YLF community) and I think I could pull these off with very tailored somewhat classic items. The great picture that JuliJuli posted looks like a dress but I think it's a skirt and top, but either way the pieces look streamlined and classic and the slouchy boots add just enough to make it interesting and different. Am I way off base?

Also, I'll add, I'm an inverted triangle (with broad shoulders and a small bust) and usually visual weight on the bottom is helpful but is it helpful at my feet! Thanks for any help.

I just called my Nordies and put a cognac in my size on hold until tomorrow. Since they're fairly inexpensive for boots, I thought about keeping the black one I posted above and getting the cognac in this one. I'll decide when I see it on my foot. Thanks Angie!
