Eyeglass picking festival :) - YouLookFab Forum

New eyeglass time! But cannot decide. I am glad I took pics for feedback on YLF, from front and a little sideways. I was surprised how different the glasses look in pictures and in real life, and especially the sideways view was often disappointing...
As in, looks fab straight on, but few look good with my -ahem- Greek nose from the side. I have tried many glasses in 2 stores near my home, and am posting the best results.

I have several favorites, but nothing I like 100%, but will hold off telling you which ones (I'd like unbiased feedback:). I don't have to buy any of these, however. Plenty of other stores around.

My goals were to get a plastic pair for comfort, and hopefully not black, and hopefully not boring (I already have 2 boring pairs). Some of these will be black, but I can probably get them in other color online if the fit is good otherwise. I added the last pair to show how non-plastic probably looks better...

Please let me know what you think - I'd appreciate that enormously. Let me know not only which ones work, but also which ones definitely do not work (or maybe sort them into Like, Dislike, Don't care). Thank you so much for taking your time to look through. I would really value your input:)

Greek noses are the best :)! I have a bump on my nose, which my SO swears is one of his favorite features of mine. Once, when I was getting a facial, the facialist said "What happened to your nose?" Me: "Uh, it's just the way I was born." Facialist: "No, I mean what *happened* to it?!" LOL.

My favorite is 17-18, followed by 11-12.

So many great choices, although I think Kate Spade #2 is my favorite. I'll be curious to see how the vote goes. You have an adorable nose, btw!

Great choices here. I really love the color of the red ones. That is a nice red and lets your blue eyes shine. I'm going to vote for the red ones which are Marc Jacobs #2.
Kate Spade makes some nice frames too.

I definitely like you in red specs! Perfect with your complexion and eye colour, Evie.

But I am going to put a complete spanner in the works and suggest something more cats-eye in shape to lift with your brow, AND something more refined to match your pretty and dainty features. Does that make sense?

An excellent effort though. You are almost there.

Thanks everyone! This is really hard heh. I guess I'd narrow it down to the red MJ ones (9&10) and the KS #2 (19&20), but will still keep looking as per Angie's suggestion.

Angie - thanks for the advice. I'm so jealous (in a good way!) of how well you wear your fabulous glasses Glad to have an opportunity to learn from you.
I'm afraid that anything cattier than #5 might look costumey on me, although I can never know unless I try, right?:)
And by more refined, do you mean lighter in frame? Something in the ballpark of #2 and #25? Or do you think I could find something more refined in the plastic field as well? Actually, I could do both, as ideally I'd love to get 2 pairs this year...

Another glass shopping trip tomorrow then, probably:)

I like the way #5 follows the line of your beautiful brows Evie (a good cats-eye angle), but the frames are too big and heavy for your face. Do you see that too? I think you need frames which are less deep in height. Shorter. #2 and #25 are a better depth. Lighter on your face.

You can definitely find something more refined in the plastic field. Have you read this post?

Maya and Sandy have dainty facial features too - look at how refined their plastic frames are. That's what I mean by shorter and daintier plastic frames. You'd look killer in a similar shape.

I hope that there is method to my madness.

Yes, I can definitely see the heaviness of most of the glasses I picked. I can see it so much clearer in pictures than in reality... The height makes sense too, kind of weighs my face down.
I'll shop around and take more pics, and hopefully I can find some Biviels to try on:)

*in love* Those are fantastic! What an inspiration. I've just went through a whole bunch of YLF blog posts on glasses, and it was very helpful to see some photos of fellow YLFers rocking some perfection plus great tips. Also looked up Bevel and they have 2 stores in D.C. I saw their selection, and I'm really excited to try on some frames that seem to fit what I should be looking for. So, more to come due to your great guidance.:)

Evie, I love cat-eye glasses, and I think they would look swell on you! I just bought a pair myself, with a black front and leopard arms (!) from Lafont. Lafont has some great frames too that you might want to check out.
