Experiments With Plaid: Part 2: two big plaids at once

Is this too crazy? It was chilly this morning so a popped a plaid shirt under a plaid sweatshirt. Too much?
Sweatshirt: Target
Shirt: Cosco
Jeans: H&M
Shoes: Cons that should be replaced.
I'm wearing this for home chores and dog walking...if you think that it can be worn in public. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated. This is a very low budget outfit and I can donate some or all of it if you think that best.
The shirt is quite oversized.

Well at first I wasn't sure it would work, but I quite like it. This is advance styling and I'm not that experienced with mixing plaids, good job!

LOVE! I think this is just perfect because the colors are similar and the different scale of the plaids play very nicely together! I'd wear it in a red hot second.

If you press the shirt again or fiddle with it a bit will it hang a bit better at the bottom?

This is one of my problems with wearing a shirt to show beneath a welted top. I always get this bunchiness. But maybe it is only me it bothers? I AM a bit of a fusspot....

Suz, pressing is a good idea. The shirt is very soft. I also meant to semituck it or could even do a full tuck to get rid of the tails. One thing that I like about this shirt is that the back is longer than the front.

I think what makes it great is the tails peeking out, but it would be fun to see it half or full tucked just to compare.

This outfit is great fun and plaid mixing totally works. I think the colours are same on both shirts but the pattern on sweatshirt in larger. right?

I find that when you home in on what you really like, quite a number of things start to "happen" to go together, as this combo does.

My judgement is questionable on this as I regularly wore plaid on plaid during the grunge years during the 90's. With that caution-- I think this is super fun!

I love this outfit - the epitome of fun. Maybe the shoes need to be replaced, but I think they are key to this outfit.

Carole, I'm adding some tucked/semi tucked photos for you. This was after a long walk so please excuse the wind blown hair.
Mona, you are right, the plaids are about the same colors. The shirt has a bit of blue that doesn't show up as bright as it looks in the photo. The plaid of the sweatshirt is slightly smaller. The shirt has chambray under cuffs and collar.

Fern and Claire, the Cons are no longer pristine so I need to look for a new pair. My fussy feet that don't like anything tight on top, are comfy in this style.

Thank you. It sounds like the plaid mix is ok in a fun way, which is what was intended. Does anyone mix plaids that don't look like they should go together?

Not yet, but only because I don't have two plaids to rub together! I just ordered a scarf that is different than my shirt & am hoping they will give the right effect. Plaid is funny because i can't judge entirely by pictures; I'll have to see them together IRL to know. Must be all the secondary colors that result from the weaves? Your two coordinate beautifully without being matchy!

Works, totally. I think I like it best with the tuck and semi-tuck. I think the plaids are harmonious enough to make the look playful, but relaxed.

LOVE the two plaids together at the neckline. Wish I had the your stylistic chutzpah. And so cute with the converse! Not so crazy about the shirt tail sticking out but tucked in love love love!
