There was a lot of Emerson Fry enthusiasm last week, so I thought I'd show some pictures of what arrived. Everything is nicely made and nicely packaged, on 'Emerson Fry' wooden hangers.

#1-2 - Frenchie pant, hemp tee
#3 - double-faced pencil pant, hemp tee
#4 - mick jeans, hemp tee

Fabric:

  • The Frenchie pant is a thin twill. I don't know how badly they would stretch at the knees, but it's the kind of fabric that often does. It also wrinkles like crazy. They would be a three-season pant here in Virginia, but probably not warm enough for somewhere with a serious winter.
  • The pencil pant is a really thick, structured, fabric - think winter in Montreal. It's a fantastic fabric but it collects lint like crazy.
  • The jeans are a fairly heavy 99% cotton. I got them in blue although they look almost black in these pictures. They are definitely darker in real life than on the website.
  • The hemp tee is slightly transparent but feels great - it looks like linen but has a much softer/silkier feel.

Fit

  • The Frenchie pant. These are 29 - which is what truefit recommended when I ordered them. Now truefit recommends 28, which I think would have been better, and still a slouchy fit on me.
  • The pencil pant: I ordered my standard 4. They are too tight in the thigh and gape a bit in the waist. (This is true of most skinny pants on me, these fit better than most.) Because of the zips at the ankle, they could not be shortened.
  • The jeans: I ordered 4 and they are a bit tight everywhere - 6 would probably fit very well. Again, they could not be shortened - I'm not sure about the length.
  • The tee: I ordered small, which is the right size. The vee is carefully calibrated to be low but not indecent.

I'm tempted to keep the tee, exchange the jeans for a size up (ouch), and return the other two. Advice welcome!

ETA some other photos of the jeans. The last two are designed not to show y'all my belly but you so you can see the unusual belt loops.
