Durable denim?

I have a bit of a problem. I am a denim-aholic. I LOVE designer jeans, but I'm really rough on my clothes-- I don't wear anything I can't knock around a bit, and after a couple of months my denim tears in some place-- mostly in the knees and the crotch. I've tried getting them reinforced and that does extend the wear a bit, but I still don't get more than a few months of pristine wear. Rock and Republic, Citizens of Humanity, 7 for all Mankind and Union don't stand a chance.

Does anyone know of any brands that are more durable? They don't have to be designer, I just prefer them because the fit is really great on me; Express and Gap are awful for my body type (very petite, narrow hips). Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wow! Why do you think your jeans tear oneirix? Premium jeans are supposed to last for 5 years. I have never heard of these brands tearing after a couple of months. Detergent?

I use an all natural detergent. I've thrown them in the dryer in the past on no heat, but if that's the problem then I'm still pretty disappointed, as my knockaround pair from Gap I bought about 3 years ago still show little signs of wear.

I guess I'm just really rough with them. Throughout a typical day I sprint around (literally; my friends and I like to race), sort of wrestle and am just really active. I also own about 5 pairs of jeans and wear the same pair several days in a row. Could this be the problem? I assume that most designer jeans are not marketed to people who expect to get them a little grungy.

Hmm, I'm petite with narrow hips and wear COH - and often several days in a row before washing (I tend to think the less washing, the better). I use bargain detergent (sparingly) and mostly air-dry though occasionally will throw in the dryer if I'm in a rush. My COH's have lasted over a year, no rips or tears or anything (except a bit of stylish hem fraying - not much to speak of, really).

But I'm not sprinting and wrestling and active - so I'm guessing that's the issue!

My DH is super hard on his clothes, because he bike commutes. Khakis? Forget it - they all end up covered in bike grease!! Jeans? He has the best luck with Lands' End. They make very durable jeans. Petite with narrow hips... you may have trouble... but worth a shot!

Maybe you can just get them custom made by a place like mejeans.com and choose a thicker, heavier denim.

Hmm, interesting. It's funny to hear that no one else has had this problem! I wonder what it is I'm doing?

I know where youre coming from. It's kind of gross that 99% of the designer jeans I see are just thin, neatly pressed, costumes that resemble a loved pair of durable old denim. BUT, a few months back I walked into a Diesel store and complained to the sales-d00d about the bold and bedazzled trends in denim, and was recommended a very simple, thin/straight legged pair of "Safado" jeans in wash "00731" and have since beaten the living hell out of them. I wear them to dig holes in an empty field by my house, strictly for the excersize (and to get a decent tan while putting REAL miles on my jeans). I am still searching for more jeans that are at least AS strong... I seriously feel like I could jump out of a car and roll on the pavement in these things. I wear them every day, and never wash them. Every now and them I spray them with Febreeze (spelling?)

Good advice on Lands End Shiny...they will take them back and give you a new pair if you get a hole in them. LandsEnd is 100% guaranteed.

Hmmm. When I interviewed for Gap the manager RAVED about a new denim line the company is bringing out now, to be in stores by Aug 20. I got to see/touch some on part of my training before I decided it wasn't going to be a good job fit for me.

It is better quality than usual(they are trying to compete with Lucky, True Religion), they are labeling it as "premium" with the cost of $59 or so. This new, updated line will have a blue rivet on the right-side coin pocket, and the seams are reinforced better than their regular denim.

I'm sorry I haven't tried their fit, but the manager was insistent that this denim would put Gap back on the map... maybe you can try it out?
