Drum on Canadian Nordies

I am in Canada for a few days and there is a Nordies a few blocks down. How is it for range, price etc? I am particularly after the Munro Cookie sandal Angie raved about recently and the Lucky jeans... none of which we have in Australia. Thanks!

Where in Canada? We recently got a Nordstrom in Vancouver, and but I haven't had a lot of luck there. I was looking forward to their arrival, mainly for the footwear, but what I've found is that all their shoes are either designer ones that are waaaaaay out of my league (like, $1500 a pair), or else inexpensive but too mainstream for my taste. They have a good selection of casual clothes, but not enough sizes.

I have yet to visit a Canadian Nordies, alas. I hope the day may come. Elizabeth P has been many times to Ottawa and I believe LisaP has been to the Calgary store. They might have better info for you.

Well you must go just to check it out. It's a fun experience. It's a really nice department store. Well kept, nice lighting, great displays, etc. Really handy to know the brand names before you go though. I'm still trying to figure out the brands and what's in my price range and what's not, and WHERE the stuff is located on the floor.
The cosmetics and shoe sections are just massive
The price range is very large but nothing is super cheap.

Well, I've been twice
I know the selection in Ottawa is pretty limited. The first time I went I had a ball... and came home with several things. I went in with time to spare and just wanted the "experience"... and had a ball. At one point I think I was wearing about $1500 in items, drinking sparkling water. Never done that before The second time I was on a bit of a mission... bras... whoo hoo. I did try on several EF pieces, and that was about it. I was trying to be a lot more focused yet didn't really see anything that made me even want to have "fun". Well, except in the shoe dept - came home with two pairs, and very nearly also got the infamous Cayenne's.

I would suggest calling them and asking if they carry the items you are specifically after. Then you can decide if you want to go and just check it out. The customer service really is great, once you get going.

Reporting for duty... yes as Smittie said it is a beautiful store... I tried on a number of pairs of shoes but nothing jumped out at me. And as Elizabeth P said the range is fairly limited - either tshirts I can get at home or way beyond my budget, especially for a casual purchase. That's ok - I had a fun time and have come home smelling of some lovely orange-y perfume I tried on.

So you were in Ottawa? I've been to the Calgary location quite a few times now , and it's totally hit and miss . Lots in the upper price ranges (Calgary is a money city ) but a mixed bag of stuff in the mid range . A lot of the house branded mdse looks better in pictures than it does in reality - let's face it : everything is made in the same factories . The shoe department is a logistical nightmare and I can't see how anyone copes with it unless you have a major budget . I have fun in the makeup , sunglasses and jewelry and fly through the rest That said , I make sure to visit it every time I'm in the city ! Prices in-store are better than on- line for us .

I'm in the Ottawa store fairly often. All I've bought in the last year is two pairs of shoes. Both are brands I could have bought elsewhere in Ottawa.
It seems like everything I like is way out of my price range. I haven't been impressed with the lower end stuff.

LisaP and Marilyn. Yes nothing exciting, affordable or different. When I travel I like to find something a bit different to home which makes a nice momento for my trip as well. Something will turn up... I am doing some interesting work here and have a good friend here so that is fun xx
