I wore my new Miz Mooz shoes for the first time last week and noted that there were little scuffs on the back of the heel by the end of the day. I don't always want to change shoes for driving but may have to keep a pair of disposable flats in the car for the trip.

Anyone have any other solutions for this problem?

I keep a same-size carpet mat over the rubber driver's side mat to protect my shoes. Sometimes carpet stores will sell sample pieces that are perfect for this purpose. My hubby custom made a mat for my Alfa convertible. ALL of my cars, even my hubby's Chevy Blazer have carpet mats. No scuffed shoes!

My shoes do suffer, too, and I've never done anything about it.....the carpet mat sounds like a good idea!

I have friends that keep a pair of driving shoes in the car.

I always keep driving shoes in the car. It feels safer to me, as well, especially when I wear platforms. I have a pair of Crocs mary janes that don't look awful if I stop to run an errand and not change shoes. They're also useful if the weather changes and I don't want to get my leather shoes wet.

I used to stash a cheap pair of flat shoes in the car for this reason, although I was also known to drive barefoot on occasion.

I take my shoes off. I learned to drive barefoot since I was in flip-flops that entire summer but my dad refused to let me drive in them.

Driving barefoot is illegal ...

Carpets are not really practical for the winter where we live; I swap shoes when I drive, but my driving shoes are a pair of -heels- because it is easier to accelerate and swivel between gas and brake

If you do decide to -add- on a piece of carpet, make sure it's firmly in place and won't get trapped behind any of your pedals ... that can cause a problem :p

Driving barefoot is illegal ...

Not in the US, UK or Canada (I know there is a widespread belief that it is, but apparently that's not the case).

My answer would be take the shoes off in the car.

2) "Did you know you violated traffic code #3292A?" ... "What is that?"
3) "Hi, what radio station are you listening to?"
4) "Why are you driving barefoot?"

lyn, my protective carpet mats have velcro on the bottom for attaching on top of the rubber mats. No sliding around or problems with gas/break/clutch pedal interference.

I drive barefoot when I can, especially my ragtop!

I'd always thought driving barefoot was illegal too... wish I'd known, since then I could have avoided wearing holes in the carpet mats on the driver's side of my car
