Dree Length

I am having a lot of trouble deciding on dress length. I don't want anything above my knees and I don't want anything to the floor. Is knee length or one or two inches below age approiate.

I agree and if you add in hosery you can get by with a bit above the knee, I think.
I wore a black AT ponte knot pencil skirt and it found it's comfortable place on me by just setteling in, this made it about 2-3" above the knee. I felt fine with it because I had on some pretty heavy Spanx patterned tights.

I mentioned this before .. in the over 50 crowd myself I dropped my skirt length to the knee and it just didn't look quite right...I am now about 2-3 inches over, and like San if I have on tights I am quite comfortable with that:)

Oh good, thanks for validating my thoughts on hems lengths Taylor. Just because we are over 50 doesn't change the balance and perspective of items hanging on our bodies, well it would be silly to tell every woman over 50, of all body types, you must now all have a hem at the knee. It will work for some and not for others.

I think we validate each other...You are so right the balance doesn't change and as long as we aren't sporting mini skirts I think we are OK:) To the knee was such an awkward looking length on me...threw everything I wore on top off. You hit it on the head Sandy....balance is the key.

You ladies are very wise! I also think anywhere from 2-3 inches over to maybe an inch below is fine, depending on your proportions. Definitely not calf length though.

Taylor, do you mean you went 2-3 inches ABOVE the knee?

Debbie, around the knee is an excellent length. The dresses that you've already shown us are spot on in length! What's your height?

Ahem.....I actually wear funky calf length skirts from time to time!!! But NEVER to the floor unless I'm going to the Oscars.

Yes Angie..YIKES. This is the very* shortest* dress I own. It is 3 inches above..Mine are ususally about 1 or 2 inches... this looks a bit shorter ..perhaps my stance

Depends on the skirt for me. I have 2 full skirts that are not the most flattering on me, but definitely the most weather-appropriate option in summer. They are to the knee or just below. Any shorter and I would look like a little girl.

Pencil skirts I prefer to keep above the knee.
