Thanks again everyone! I wore them to work today. I discovered that they're a little fiddly as far as adjusting laces to the proper tightness. At first I had them laced pretty tight and was like ow, the top of my foot hurts! Then I loosened/adjusted them better and they were much more comfortable (although one shoe I did better than the other one). I would say at the moment they're a bit less comfortable than the Marcies because of the laces and straps pressing on the top of the foot, but I think once I get the laces adjusted properly and the leather broken in (like all Docs, the leather is on the stiffer side), they'll be great. As it is, I wore them about all day and they were fine!
Rae -- I think you are just seeing a shadow there; my foot fits widthwise pretty much perfectly. Lengthwise, it's tad long but nothing horrible (I got UK 5, my normal Dr Martens size). My feet aren't particularly wide, probably on the narrow side, especially at the heel, with low to medium arches. You should give them a shot!
Chrizzle, City Poodle -- oooo, I will enable you! Go for it!
san -- yes, they do feel like high heels in that your foot is at an angle. And I typically have problems with heel heights over 3". However, with the platform, the shoe has an effective height of about 2.75" and I find them to be really easy to walk in -- more so than a 3" spike-type heel, for sure.
