Does anyone else derive immense pleasure from hacking?

A pair of jeans into a cropped length that is.

I don't know why it's so freeing to hack jeans to another length. Crazy. But I feel endorphins when I do so.

I am far too scissor-happy for my own good :(.

actually hacking anything from something not working to something with potential is fabulously freeing!

just hacked another dress yesterday (into a blouse) and 3 cotton based slips into camisoles today....going a little crazy with scissors here also

Perhaps if I had steadier hands! (most of the time I have a slight tremor, which makes me nervous about many DIY projects that involve scissors.)

Oh yes! Those unloved bootcuts make great clams, and my mid-calf lounge sweats even got a knee length hack job.

When the original is no longer working, there's very little to lose and lots to gain by hacking.

However, I get HUGELY immense pleasure when a stylist hacks a lot of my hair. I have to be cautious not to push the stylist to go shorter and shorter! I love losing length.
(Just saw Lindsey again this week and she did a wonderful job.)

Yep, I love it especially in materials it feels okay not to hem (not my strong point either!) --- jerseys and denim, which I'm happy to leave frayed. Only for casualwear, though --- I cannot seem to cut in straight lines without a lot of fuss and bother.

And like Kari, I take a curious pleasure in going shorter and shorter!

I think it's the trepidation - especially when hemming a brand-new pair of pants - hope I don't screw this up - followed by a better fit - ah! success - that makes it such a RUSH!!!

Measure twice, cut once, my hubs always quips.

To hem the blouses I used the iron...hem tape...but for the rest, no hemming either!

I love cutting off jeans and trousers to the length I want them to be, and then hand them over to our seamstress to hem and do her magic. I'm definitely scissor-happy (same thing with fringe on scarves;-)

Oh ABSOLUTELY!!! In the last few days, I've hacked two inches off the Gap BF jeans I got and the entire legs off the Alfred Sung BF jeans I got (to make them into cut offs). No sewing either Angie - just lovely frayed edges.

I do enjoy hacking jeans,especially the kids when they get a hole in the knee, however, I hate the seam on the inside leg and usually end up with one leg shorter than the other.

In my world 'hacking' is something far more sinister, so naturally you got me with the title of this post... As for wearing shorter pants I didn't need any outside interventions or procedures, it was my reality for most of my life

But, I see I might need to reprogram some of my neural pathways and start being a bit more creative... watch this space...

This reminds me, I was bleaching a pair of hacked off not so skinny skinnies that I made into tapered burmudas last week and ran out of bleach! I went grocery shopping today so I can let the bleaching commence!

Thanks Angie, I am now inspired to 'hack' the thrifted bootlegs I wore yesterday that didn't feel quite right. They will serve better as just below knee length clams for the warmer weather.

Ha! I hacked my Long and Leans into bermuda shorts, too. In this case of one pair, I was tired of wearing them as jeans; in the case of the other, I wasn't wearing them at all. Now I wear both and derive an immense pleasure from actually using clothes I had in a new - and in some cases - more wearable way!

I've been having fun hacking some maxi dresses and skirts off to just-below-the-kneecap midies, freeing the legs to catch a cool breeze. Delightful.

Yes!! I hack clothes all of the time! Recent hacks: many pairs of longer, baggy shorts hacked into shorter baggy shorts (for around the house, gardening, walking the dog), lots of long jeans made into bermudas and clams, denim shirt made into a cropped denim shirt, removed the sleeves on a dress, removed the collar on another, removed the zipper on a third, and on and on....
