Sorry i got sidetracked didn't realise it was for church! Yes i agree with khris leggings and flats but definately wear the outfit as is for another occassion x

okay, so I tried some other options- one of which was my black boots which were fine, but I am just so intrigued by the idea of my brown boots with this. Something I would have never ever ever done before I found YLF.

So, I compromised and added somewhat sheer black hose under the fishnets. It's not nearly as good of a bridge between the black band and the brown boots, but I decided I was pushing the alluring factor just a bit too far.

I'm really sad because I was really stoked about my outfit.

Angie- I'm curious what you think.

I've always been a bit iffy with mixing black and brown i always feel it doesn't work (i'm in the minority with that opinion and i am trying to see the good in black and brown) However i do think yours works perhaps it's because they are fishnet tights not solid black? x

I have a hard time mixing black and brown and seeing Angie do this has opened up a whole world of possibilities. I think I'm having a harder time with such a dressy looking dress and that particular denim jacket (so not a dressier dark denim one). Less so with the boots or the fishnets.

My family goes to a pretty relaxed church, and this type of outfit would totally work there. I actually think black and brown can work really well together (neutrals are neutrals and they can be mixed up. Brown and grey work beautifully together, so why not brown and black?) I am curious to see what the black plus fishnets, plus brown boots will look like.
Sorry that you didn't wear this to church, but why not wear this outfit to go the grocery store, for a parent teacher conference, for a casual get together, for any reason! Why need a "special" reason to look lovely?

I love it. We're not church-goers but I guess it all depends on how conservative your church is - regular hose or leggings/flats would look fine too.

ooh, split review- I love it!
you know, it would have been fine as it was, but I was glad to have added the sheer tights layer underneath as this dress doesn't pull over my knees when I sit. I would have been tugging all morning. I think I also would have been fine with it if the boots were a bit taller, but I just felt a bit self conscious about my knees and pretty much my whole calf showing in the fishnets. I decided I'd err on the side of modesty rather than pushing the line in the name of trying to look fab.

That said, while I'd go with the fishnets for church, I'd leave the denim at home. Of course, it depends very much on your church:)

Beth- over half the church is in denim so I wasn't worried about that at all. Once the weather warms up we'll see shorts in church- especially the men.

well, actually I do.... years ago a comment was made about a dress I had on that was on the short side. It wasn't actually a bad comment, but inappropriately made by a member of the opposite sex.

I can understand how you feel, but I don't think this dress is too short. And trust me, I'm a giant prude and very sensitive to skirt length. I sometimes feel strange in fishnets too, but microfishnets are subtle. You look classy and ladylike.
