I've bought *the* dress today and the issues around the waistband are shown on the photos below. If you've missed the previous thread, I had initially tried the dress on and left it at the store because the waistband is, I feel, too high on my frame. The dress is not available in tall size (things rarely are in mainstream stores). Add to that I am short-waisted and it all begins to feels like I might feel too self-contentious wearing this one, which I absolutely want to avoid.

Pro: I love everything about this dress.
Con: I've spent most of my life wearing things that were not cut for my height, so in my post-YLF days I really don't want to overlook any (such) imperfection unless the item is an absolute gem. I don't want to look like I'm wearing something that's not supposed to be worn by someone of my height and build. (This would be a nice answer on Una's thread about fashion fears.)

The photos show:

  1. The dress with its own belt, there are loopholes sewn on.
  2. My left hand is where I'd ideally like the belt to sit, and my right palm shows the distance between the bottom of the bra and the belt.
  3. As suggested, I've tried it with the wide belt and as feared, the original loopholes are showing underneath, so this is a no-no. Plus, the option with the thin belt looks prettier to my eye.
  4. The dress on the model.
  5. The dress on the manequin (regular height).

On a quick inspection this weekend I'm pleased to see there's a rather decent selection of ponte-knit dresses, so it won't be the end of the world if I don't keep this one. Therefore, please be honest and brutal.
