I am still not sure I fully understand the concept of contrast after reading old posts from the YLF forum, and hunting through the internet. This started with the idea that the clothing one wears should match ones innate contrast levels.

My eyes are light to medium green, my skin is fair-medium in color, and my hair is also light-medium in color. That should mean, if I am understanding contrast correctly, that I am light-medium in overall contrast, or maybe it means I am low contrast because there is very little difference between all three? This is where I get confused.

The majority of pictures I have posted on the YLF forum have been low contrast, particularly near my face. Marley, has asked that I post something where I am wearing higher contrast near my face. I looked through my closet, and I really don't have much, so I decided to use scarves and some assorted objects to create a contrast experiment to see which level really suits me best.

With luck, these pictures represent high medium and low contrast:

Pic 1. Is a black dress wrapped around my neck I thought black would be the highest contrast with the white shirt I was wearing, plus very high contrast with my coloring. As you can see, I look ill and pale. I am working hard to eliminate all black from my closet.
Pic 2. Is a navy blue maxi skirt wrapped around my neck. (I had to get creative). I am not convinced that everyone can wear Navy, and I think I am a clear example of someone who looks awful and sickly when i get near it. Once again, my skin looks pale and the contrast is high.
Pic 3. Is a Chocolate brown scarf. Still high contrast with my skin, eyes and hair. I think this scarf is fair, but still not wonderful. Probably too dark near my face.
Pic 4. A dark teal scarf. Once again, I think this is high contrast. I think the color is better, but probably too high contrast because the color is too intense.
PIc 5. This is an example of what I think is medium contrast. A print blue green scarf. I think this one looks pretty good. I like it.
Pic 6. This is a medium green scarf that picks up the darker tones in my eyes. I also like this one. I think this is another example of medium contrast.
Pic 10. This scarf pics up the colors of my hair with its redish gold color. I think this is a low contrast, although it has some rust stripes. I like this one also, and it is one of my favorites.
Pic 8. This is my very favorite scarf to wear because it feels so soft. I love it's color also. It picks up the light green color of my eyes, and it also has some yellow. I think this is low contrast, but maybe it is medium?
PIc 9. I think this is a low contrast. It is my shoe print scarf.

pic 7. Is low contrast and may wash me out? (It has a lot of grey in it, which is a cool color and I am a soft autumn)

Which contrast level do you like best? Low? Medium? High?

Did I get the concept of contrast correct?
