Consign these Frye booties?

I've had at least two good years with these Frye Philip Harness booties, but last years I started to fall out of love with the snub toe, and this year my evolving style, which appears to be leaving some tomboy elements behind, feels very much at odds with them. I think it's just time to let them go. Does anyone think I am crazy to do this? I do still have classic Frye harness boots that I'm planning to hold onto.

snub toe for this type of boot does not bother me. the harness ornamentation seems a bit overdone for your current direction.

I think if you're feeling like your style has moved on from them, it's time to let them go. Fryes get a pretty good resale rate on eBay.

I have also been feeling a pull toward more refined footwear, away from stompier styles, so I totally get where you're coming from. I suspect that I might part with a pair or two of boots this coming season.

If you don't love it, then consign it and make space for something you do love.

FWIW, I have never been much of a Frye fan, so I feel I should be honest about that.

Not crazy at all! I totally agree with Thistle. If you don't love them anymore, it's time to get rid of them and find something new to love!

With IK on this one. When you said "snub toe" I expected to see that traditional old-school squared off toe. This one reads classic to me. Wouldn't you wear them on wet weekends for a walk, or where you don't want your good boots to get mucky?

I agree with IK and Lisap. I would wait until the weather gets nasty and see if you reach for them on messy days.
I have a pair of shooties that I don't particularly love but they are my rain shoes. They hold up quite well and they keep my other shoes from getting ruined in the rain. I bet if I loved my rain shoes they would get ruined too..,

Vivian, I so hear you on the moving towards refined footwear! That was one of the reasons I did not get Aquatalia Sweetie boots at NAS: because of the toe shape.
However I tend to agree with IK, Lisa and Joyce that maybe you should hold on to these boots at least for a year and see if they come handy in some situations. If you discover that you do not reach for them as well for the whole winter then it maybe a time to consign.

You are all so wise! I'm not typically a holding zone person but you have made strong arguments for holding on to them a while longer. I will not be surprised if I reach for them on mucky days - they are really comfortable. Thanks all.

Glad you are holding on to them. I agree they are kind of classic. I don't see "tom boy" when I look at them but rather a cool boot with a touch of edge that it quite timeless.

I think they are worth keeping unless they are taking up too much space. I know you are like me -- an eager editor! But sometimes it's better to hang onto things.

(Said by one who DID purchase the Sweetie despite not loving the toe shape -- purely for the practicality combined with at least some refinement.)

Chiming in with another vote to keep for another season, just to see if you reach for them. They are pretty classic. I barely wore my black Frye boots last year, but this year I think I'm going to be feeling them a bit more. Seems like some things come in and out of (my) favour year by year.
