Confused about PPL for skinny non-denim

I was just looking at Jen's thread on her black riding pants - http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-look-okay

and realized that I'm not quite sure about PPL on non-denim pants. Do non-denim pants need to scrunch as well? I've been wearing these J Crew toothpick cords this fall/winter - there isn't really any scrunch. Does this stumpify? Should I only be wearing these tucked into boots?

Shana, your ankle length pants are longer than Jenava's - whom I have asked to take another picture so that we can see a front view. Jenava's look a little short but yours look fine.

LOL, Angie, I guess these aren't truly "ankle" pants on me though they were billed as such. So no scrunch is OK as long as I'm not exposing ankle with the length?

that's what I would think-as long as you aren't showing skin from the back (between the top of your shoe and the bottom of your pant) I would think it's fine.

I think yours look good Shana. OTOH, my ponte pants, like everything else I take to get hemmed, are shorter than I prefer. Normally I'll suck it up and wear them anyway if they don't scrunch as long as they are PPL...but with the ponte pants the lack of scrunch REALLY bothers me. Something about the fact that they are knit makes me feel like scrunch was more appropriate. I was actually thinking of selling them on ebay even though I just got them and they were my Christmas gift

Shana, your trousers look like they tickle the top of the foot, this is what I look for with skinny trousers as I'm unable to see PPL in the mirror. I actually require a photo to objectively view PPL on myself.

I do Angie. This is a pretty common problem for me though. I had one good tailor but $15 for hems and $20 for an original hem is too much.

Part of the problem might be that they don't pin. They just use chalk and make a small mark where the length should be.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will keep this in mind. Julie, you make a good point about not being able to "see" how something fits without a photo - these days, I am in the habit of photographing nearly everything before I buy just to double check!

To be honest, I don't dig the skinny silhouette enough to invest in more than a black skinny denim or ponte knit for the future. Comparing this look to my bootcut jeans (http://i374.photobucket.com/al.....G_0725.jpg), I think this makes me look more top heavy whereas the bootcuts help balance me out and look more proportionate (and taller!!).
