Wow, you nailed it! Love the long lacey vest, I would keep it for further fun outfits!

Thanks, y'all! I went out looking for my own hat yesterday, but didn't find anything, so I made a clip-on decoration for son's bowler hat, which he has graciously allowed me to borrow.

Diana, too funny! It must be the colors and the swoopy coat, although mine is rather too black.

Aida, Angie even said in her post that the accessories are what really make steampunk outfits. I guess this post is a good example of that.

It's a surprisingly easy look to pull together as certain items never seem to go out of style (granny lace up boots for example) or can be found at thrift stores pretty easily.

Very true, WitchyD! I think one of the appealing things about steampunk is that it's a historical dress style, but from a fantasy time period, so just about anything goes. No worries about getting details exactly right. Men's fashion dates less than women's, so it's especially easy to incorporate menswear elements, and sure, throw on that Regency-style suede bodice coat that has no grounding in the actual past. Fun!

Fun Fun Fun....love it !!!

You pulled this off nicely!

Thanks! I embellished the hat this morning... with a clip-on decoration, so I can give it back to my son, unblemished, when I'm done.

Oh, the hat is just awesome!

I don't have anything particularly insightful to add here but just wanted to stop by and say I'm kind of in love with this look and it is super fun!! The hat looks awesome.

Fantastic outfit! I think it's great that you managed this with many items out of your regular closet and only a few obvious steampunk elements. Quite a few of my friends are into steampunk but I feel I never have the right wardrobe - looks like I should check again.

And the decorated hat is perfection.
