Thank you, cciele! I had not seen the lookbook, even though I am a relentless advocate for checking out Talbot's as a place for well-made, beautiful pieces. They have come a very long way from the preppy, dowdy, old-lady looks that used to define them.

The outfits here are gorgeous. (How much do I love the scrunched-glove looks that are showing up everywhere...) The long camel coat shown here on page 46 is featured on page 263 of the September Lucky magazine. Stunning!

Also, Talbots has amazing sales - give them a look if you haven't already.

DROOLING on the west coast. I never thought I'd have anything positive to say about Talbots, but these looks are stunning. If the closet fairy is listening, just about ANY of these outfits would be warmly welcomed (but especially that first look). Sigh. I'm feeling a little faint.

I loved the look of many of these -- am definitely coveting a couple of those mixed-pearl necklaces too -- but I have been so burned by my local Talbots I am almost afraid to have hope. They take the nicer stuff I have been seeing in the catalogs and bury it in the uber-preppy stuff that should be kept in the back.

But I will be looking for a couple of those jackets anyway. *crosses fingers*

RoseandJoan -- actually, I am more of an Anthropologie kind of girl. I typically don't shop at Talbots, which had been known for their preppy style, but their new lookbook blew me away. I would love to throw some of the pieces into my wardrobe!

Wow, some of those jackets are amazing! I can't wait to seem them irl. I did try on that jacket from p24 because I liked that big bold plaid pattern but unfortunately, it was really boxy and not flattering on me. Love the jacket on p.48.

WOW - I have shopped at Talbot's for years for the simple classic well made pieces but agree you have to watch out for the cutesy look there. I have to say I am TOTALLY impressed with the look book!! New designers? :)

Nope, Talbot's is not petite's only.

Cciele, thanks again for posting this. I looked at it again and am drooling even more. It's making me realize that one of my style goal words needs to be "retro".

San, as you already heard from JG, Talbot's is definitely not for petites only. They have regular Misses sizes, Petites, Woman, and Woman Petites. The only thing they don't seem to have is Tall sizes.

Wow, this is amazing! Thanks for posting it, Cathy. I only bought a couple of accessories from Talbots, and I always thought theyir stuff was old-ladyish and boxy. I haven't been to the store in years, need to check it out during my next excursion.

Talbots has done an amazing redesign of their clothing. I mean, they were hardcore prep for many years. But I have to agree with Kristen that the transformation is not filtering down to their stores. At least, not to ours!

Last year, they had a KILLER trench. I will be on the lookout for some of these coats as the season rolls along.

Hello Talbot's!
In the past I've been staying away from this brand like the plague for the same reasons others have listed above, but I am totally loving the fall look. No rockenrolla look with studs, zippers... and I am immensely grateful for that. The foulards and scarves are especially beautiful. I can't wait for my fall shopping!!!

Each retailer gets a chance to start from scratch at the start of a new season. A new fashion buyer or design team can make all the difference. Looks like Talbots will be giving AT and BR a run for their money. I’m impressed. I wonder if they have adjusted the size specs of their clothing? They usually run very big.
