Channeling my inner diva (or have I lost my mind?)

While window shopping with my hubby this weekend - and after a night with very little sleep (I am *still* struggling with jetlag! I sleep fine one day, then not at all the next) - I bought this sequined jacket at H&M on a whim:

Have I lost my mind?

Something about it appealed to me, though I have no idea how much wear I will actually get out of this. Of course, now that I've had a better night's sleep, I'm wondering if I made a mistake.

Would you wear this?

I love it Shiny! I actually had a dream last night that I bought a sequined tank top to wear under jackets and cardigans. Maybe I was psychically channeling your inner diva. :D

I think you could wear it with jeans and a knit top, or on more dressy occasions. You always seem to be out doing interesting social things, I could see you having more opportunities to wear it than you might think. Can we see some more photos of it?

This is one of those items which I love on others but I'm not brave enough to wear myself.

I appreciate the clothes this girl is wearing are not age appropriate but I think a similar look would be nice with a black pencil skirt and white cami

RoseandJoan - that's how I felt, love it on others but not sure I'm brave enough to wear it myself! I was so tired yesterday - if I was more alert and thinking clearer, I probably would've talked myself out of buying it. But the weird part is I kept thinking, "even if I never wear it, I want something like this hanging in my closet - just knowing it's in there will make me smile." LOL. There is a secret part of me that wishes I had talent and could sing or act, because then I'd be on the stage. :-)

I love the simplicity of that outfit you linked to, though I'd never be caught dead in a skirt that short, at my age. I love the simple white tee though. I was thinking this could work with a graphic tee?

I was trying it on in front of the mirrors, and there was a woman also trying on stuff, about my age. I asked her if she'd wear it, and she said yes, she'd wear it to the symphony or the theater over an LBD, and of course, to a holiday party. Then she said "if you went to a department store or even AT, it would cost three times as much." So she did help talk me into this purchase!

Ana - two more pics for you (though I'm thinking you meant, "styled with other pieces"):

(The sleeves need shortening and I might get a button added - it has no buttons)

I think I'm going to bravely wear it to xmas eve dinner with DH's family. Everyone gets a bit dressed up ("festive" - not formal) for that (last year I wore my Paris jacket with jeans). They will think it is fun.

Love it! Very fun for the holidays, dinner out, whatever. Like Louise said, it will "jazz up" an ordinary outfit. Shiny looks lovely in shiny clothing! :o)

I really like it too and would wear it in a heartbeat! I think it's really classy, actually, and not "diva" at all!

I think you look great in it! Just like that - with the purple top and black pants and boots.

It's a good idea to wear it to the xmas eve dinner. I don't know if you work like me, but for me the first time is worst. When I've wore something once I'm not that afraid of putting it on again.

You're not crazy! It looks great on you. The styling is so simple and that is what makes it wearable. You attend so many arty functions, I think you will wear it plenty.

I would love it in my closet knowing I'd have it to jazz up a simple outfit, and I'd wear it to events like a Christmas dinner where people appreciate a nod to the season and it would be easy to remove when helping with the washing up.

I love it. It could be a great evening jacket to dress casuals up or to wear on a dress.

love it!!! i've been toying with the idea of adding a sequinned something or other to my wardrobe, but i haven't quite worked up the nerve yet. this looks lovely on you!

Lovely!

You can wear it a lot, even during day time with jeans and a black or white t-shirt.

I agree with others who have said that you seem to go to plenty of events where you could wear this and it would not be a closet orphan. I think it would be a great addition to Shiny's wardrobe. Sometimes make a decision without overthinking it turns out well.
I had a sequined sweaterthat my best friend bought for me when I was in my 40's and I LOVED it for the holidays, for years. I still have it as a memento.

oooh. I've been coveting a sequin jacket ever since I've seen Elle MacPherson sporting her gold sequined one. Yeah, I know that we're not all about celebs on this site, but I do admire Elle's personal style and she often rocks her sequined jacket; I think it looks best when she - as shown in this photo - rocks it with more casual clothes. I'd pair your excellent H & M blazer with jeans and a t-shirt for a fun evening look when heading out to dinner with friends.

Shiny, Check this out --- http://myedit.blogspot.com/ I think you could totally try it casual. What about with a fun graphic t that is either black or has some black in it, your long knotted pearls (or that big chunky crystal necklace you have but longer with an extender) & some killer heels? It's a casual look like Mac posted of Elle's.
