So, I have had an ombre chambray button-up shirt in my closet for about a year now (it was a Christmas gift) and I have never worn it until last week.
I tend to wear warm toned neutrals with pops of colors and have constantly struggled with my chambray shirt. This was due to refusing to wear anything other than blue denim bottoms. I forced myself to start wearing other neutral pants (olive, brown) just to have more remixing options in my new, smaller wardrobe.
Now that I have non-blue denim bottoms, and my mind sees blue denim as a neutral, it just clicked to wear my shirt with my colored pants. It was like a light bulb moment! I know it seems sort of obvious for some, but I totally didn't get it until just recently. Last week I wore it over a brown surplice tank, cardigan style - with olive pants. Today, I am wearing it alone with brown jeans and a sparkly statement necklace (which - it took me eons to find one that was "me"). I even like the shirt so much now, I ordered a chambray shirtdress!
I am working really hard to remember my articulated style - casual, classic country with a bit of glam and the outfits are fitting in perfect with that idea! I can't believe how much I have progress in just the last few weeks of nailing down exactly the look I want to project without having to buy a lot of new pieces. Thanks YLF!
So, how do you style your chambray shirts?
