Challenge: Reality vs Fantasy #3

I'm really enjoying this challenge

So todays reality outfit is for a day when the only people/animals I'm seeing are DH,DS and the cat. I have no clients to see today and I'm just doing a mixture of work and bits of housework plus a little time on here. It's really cold today, so I popped on a teal sweater which is warm and cosy. It's a pity about this sweater though as I think it has shrunk a little. The sleeves are now a little short and so is the body, plus I would prefer a touch more fluidity in width, but I adore the colour and neckline. I hate to say it but I may end up purging it. The plaid trousers I'm wearing pick up on the blue tone and are an insanely comfortable ponte knit. My indoor booties finish the look.

On to my fantasy outfit...I'm imagining how fab it would be If I lived in a lovely cosmopolitan city, just a few minutes walk from a museum or art gallery where I could nip out during my lunch break, eat a sandwich sitting on a bench in a lovely park and then stroll around the museum for a while. The tote bag is so that I can take my lunch and on the way back home I would pop into an Artisanal bakery for a pastry which I would eat when I got back home. Oh, and of course the sun would be shining and I wouldn't need a coat. Don't get me wrong, I love where I live on the edge of the countryside and a town 20 mins drive away, but It's a nice dream eh?

The top that I made is from my reality outfit that I wore on Monday and the cream jeans are one of my recent makes too. Hope you like.

Diane, you are making me hungry: cake on your last thread, now sandwiches and pastries!

I think your fantasy outfit is just beautiful. You will look perfectly at home at the museum and gallery. I relate to your vision of just stepping out for artisan food and a little culture. I have a country lifestyle, but I do enjoy the buzz of a vibrant city now and again.

Thank you Angie! I have worn the teal sweater with straight pencil skirts before, but not sure that it looks a bit meh. Maybe the proportions? Would a fuller skirt be better?

Two great outfits, Diane! I'm with Angie--I really like the teal sweater on you and wondered if it might go nicely with a skirt. Or culottes! Just an idea. (I'm thinking a silhouette where the shorter length top is what you want.) Anyway, your reality outfit is just as good as a fantasy outfit in my book, but I would love to join you on your fantasy outing. And I cannot believe you made those jeans! I'm in awe.

Thanks Sharan! Ooh yes culottes with the sweater. Great idea. Oh the jeans yes, let me tell you, they were a bit of a bugger (British swear word!) to sew. The denim is a thick one and hard to manipulate. I put the zip in and ripped it out about 5 times!! Grrr. I'm hoping they soften a bit with wear too.

Both great looks....love your fantasy and your real life looks.

It is annoying when an item is Almost so right, but is not quite right. The colour is terrific and the shape looks fine, but I know how irritating the wrong fit can be.

You are so good at the challenges Diane and I admire your effort and taste. I like both looks and despite your reservation about your shrunken jumper, it still looks good. Think of it as slightly cropped with 3/4 sleeves and I imagine it would suit a skirt as well. Your second outfit is divine and inspires me to do something similar from my own pieces. I must make comment on how lovely your hair looks too....
