Hi everyone! I have been searching hard for glasses frames, both online and in person and I'm getting a bit weary. After spending most of the morning yesterday online (five pairs are on the way for home try-on) I decided I needed to just get out of the house. I knew none of my local stores would have that elusive long-enough sheath dress or silk striped boat neck blouse I've been hunting for so I just went to Goodwill to look around. Heh.
Someone had hidden this little cream colored cropped trench in the *active wear*. It looked cute, and it was that perfect soft white. The fabric felt really nice. When I saw the label I scratched my head. Celine? I figured Celine Dion had done a line for Kmart or something. But wait, the size was European.....I looked again. Made in France. I checked the fabric content. 97% cotton, 3% Elastane. Lining 100% silk! My pulse quickened as I oh so casually took the jacket to the fitting room. Usually I try on outerwear using the outside mirror, but I wanted to be alone with my little gem.
I locked the door. It fit. Perfectly. Even the bust darts were in the correct position (a problem I often have with cropped junior's jackets--but this was no junior's jacket!). The color was great, it would go with everything in my wardrobe. Mentally I went through the rest of my checklist: does is work for my climate? Yes. Lifestyle? Yes. Do I have anything else like it? No. Would an Off-Duty Princess wear this? Oh YES! (She might step gingerly around the rest of my wardrobe but she would DEFINITELY wear this!) Is it good quality? Yes, so much so that it almost brought tears to my eyes.
I could see it was in pristine condition, so why had it been donated? It took me a while to notice that it was missing an epaulet--just like Rae's trench! I didn't even care. I could figure that out later. I could cut the other one off, make a contrasting one, try to match the original one or make two new contrasting ones...not a problem. I breathed a sigh of relief. At least it didn't have a huge hole or stain. The price was $17.99. I had a 20% off coupon and a gift card with a balance of $3.99. I tried it on again. Yep folks, this was the definition of a no-brainer. And it didn't even look like a lab coat (to me, anyway).
Heart pounding, I slunk to the check-out, trying to act like everything was normal. I was afraid someone was either going to wrest it from my hands or that management would say, "Hey! Wait a minute! We need to add a couple of zeros to that price tag." Isn't that hilarious? Well I got out of the store unscathed.
Here is my little trench. The sleeves are 3/4, but it's hard to tell because I was wearing a cream blouse yesterday. #4 is WIW yesterday. Thanks for reading and looking!
