Buy maximal blazer?

harmonica

I'm sure drawn to this blazer but wonder if it is too much going on? Could it be worn for a presentation at a conference (arts, humanities) with neutral pieces?

I don't have any jacket or blazer like this and price is really good. Do I have sales/colour goggles?

Firstly Is it returnable?

secondly it seems a bit big in the shoulders. How does it fit to you?

Thirdly it is a cool hum/arts fabric and the structure makes it appropriate for conference or for teaching classes where you need extra gravitas.

I think it has too much going on, harmonica. The thick fabric and pompoms are very maximal. A smaller dose of that type of thing would be fine, but it is the whole jacket and I think it would be distracting to people listening to you speak.

I also wondered if the fit was a bit bulky through the top. On one hand, i see the appeal -- the colors and pattern are great. However, I do feel like the pompoms are perhaps a bit OTT for presentations. I could be wrong -- is it returnable? Can you take it home and try styling it? I think this is one of those pieces that needs to be properly styled to evaluate -- if you truly love it!

I love the colors, but it does seem s bit fuzzy and bulky for you.

I definite suffer from Color Goggles + FOMO. I'll think, " but I'll never find another _____ in this color". Or something will be fun- looking and I'll try to imagine it will add some zing to my wardrobe. So I get it when things are ALMOST right.
Still, I'd hold out for something a bit more minimally maximal or that is less "IT" by itself but can combine in interesting, maximal ways.

Thank you so much for your insightful comments! You helped me pin down why I was on the fence (ponpons, size, careful styling - I like versatility and less fuss). It's not returnable and I feel happy that I left it behind.

Now I love maximal, but I agree with the above comments that the fit and bulk meant that I would also recommend a pass on this one. The perfect jacket is out there!

I think you made the right decision. The colors on the jacket are fabulous and I like the maximal feel of it... but the piece seemed too bulky (as others have mentioned). Perhaps you will find a statement jacket that is better suited to your needs.

Thank you all! You are so right. A fun and non-fuzzy (statement) jacket for presentations and other events are out there. I'll look out for that colour. I'm so happy that I finally feel confident enough to embrace brights and the whole colour spectrum. It sparks so much joy and positivity.
