Butterfly Tops

So, I've seen this trend gain some popularity lately, and I really like the look of it. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what body types this would work best on? It's characterized by a deep V neckline, nipped in waist, and a wider, raglan flutter type sleeve. Here are some examples of the style:

Because of the pretty sleeve detailing I would think it's a nice choice for pear-shaped girls, as long as the waist is defined and there isn't too much fabric bulk in the torso. The second top would probably need a belt for waist definition. I think the Marc Jacobs one is gorgeous.
That's just my $0.02.

I think that almost all body types (other than inverted triangle) could pull it off if it's belted and balanced with the right bottom.

I have a pretty strong shoulder line, but I was thinking if I wore an a-line skirt (maybe my denim BR skirt) or wider, trouser style jeans it could work with my frame. I'm not sure though. I really like the first one from Echo design. I'm a sucker for anything lacy and romantic.

I can picture you in the polka dot one, Ana. The first one kind of reminds me of a bridal peignoir--only shorter. Maybe pairing it with denim as you suggested will take that down a notch.

A bridal peignoir? What's that? Like lingerie? Hee hee. I was thinking about curling my hair and pulling it back into a loose bun with it, like old timey 1930s. Also, I was thinking of buying it in a non-lingerie color (because I know what you mean about it possibly looking like undies) like the brown or the purple (although I'm not totally sure purple is a good color on me, I don't have anything purple). And I would definitely wear jeans with it and a plain cami so as not to overdo the laciness.

The polka dot one is really cute, but they only have it in Petite XS (sniff)--the only way I could fit into it is if I wore it around my head like a bandana.

Yes a bridal peignoir is like a lingerie "bath robe" or "house coat". Except it's usually see thru and worn with a matching nightgown, on your wedding night.
