Brown dress--should I dye it?

Angie has mentioned before that brown can be hard to wear and that she wouldn't put me in plain brown. I have this plain dark brown cotton dress and am wondering if I should dye it (I'd try RIT dye, has anyone been succesful with this?). My hair will be dark ash blonde with highlights as of tomorrow, so take that into consideration.

I absolutely love it as is. Once you put on a little cardigan or wear the chickadee that brings in other colors. I think this fits you so beautifully and it would be a shame if something went wrong and it was ruined. Would it break your heart if it was ruined, or would you be willing to sacrifice it?

It wouldn't break my heart if it was ruined. I do have white and turquoise cardis that I could wear with it, and a cream jacket...

I don't mind the brown on you at all Brianna. And it will look different with your new hair colour (please post pics!) too. (I love how San says 'or wear the chickadee'!).

I'd also try the dress with white sandals or something with a wedge heel. White + brown is a great Summery look in my book.

Voilà, the white and turquoise cardis sound perfect!-)

I love this dress, Brianna. I happen to think it looks great on you, which has me wondering... I mean, we all know Angie would never steer us wrong, but my eyes see this brown question so differently. To me, it seems like such a universally flattering shade! I happen to love it on myself, and on most people that I know. I think it can really warm up a complexion.

Anyway, I think it looks great as-is. If you're undecided, why don't you wait until you have your hair coloured, and post another pic? It might be good to double check with your new look.

I also think it looks ok.
I have no clue what I'm talking about, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that this is a very dark brown, close to black? That probably didn't make any sense.
Can't wait to see your new hair color tomorrow!

I would not dye it - I think the color is neutral enough and it can be a great background for accessories (and cardigans, too).

I like it as it is as well. It is a dark, rich, chocolate brown, which totally suits your complexion. On the other hand, if you still want to dye it, Kashmira has a tutorial on how to dye denim, which I am sure would work for cotton as well.

However, since the dress is already a dark color, I am not sure how well it would take to other colors, especially lighter ones. Perhaps navy might be an option.

I think it looks great as is - maybe just pop in that turquoise cardi or maybe a tank or a chunky necklace. I lam a huge fan of the turquoise/brown combo.

brianna, i really like this color on you, actually! i like everyone's suggestions of pairing it with brighter colors instead! but, if you do decide to experiment, i hope you share your venture with us!

I actually like this on you. Seems like a good neutral to work with as a base - or even just a pretty necklace, scarf. Such a great dress, I'd leave it as is.

Bri! You look KILLER in that dress. WOW! Don’t you dare change a thing. (And the brulees look wonderful too). Why don’t you wear that to the christening? Add those cute pearly wedges and a fabulous light coloured necklace. Viola.

Hmm. Angie, maybe I will! If nothing else I'll give the combo a try. I thought it was too dark for the baptism, but, hey, it's worth a shot.
