I have been happily wearing Martin fit skinnies, which were Angie's recommendation from a few years ago. They have a fairly tight fit, especially in the thighs, so I usually try to wear them with longer tops to make sure they don't look inappropriately tight for work. I wanted to get some pants that have a slightly more relaxed fit and would be an everyday workhorse for me, like the Martins. Right now BR sells Martins in wool-containing fabrications only but the Sloans are available in the same stretch fabric as my old Martin skinnies - viscose/cotton/spandex. I ordered Sloan trousers (did not like them so they are going back) and also Sloan slim ankle pants http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....cale=en_US. I wanted them to be regular length, not ankle length so ordered Long (31") instead of regular (29"). I did not realize they have a notch at the bottom - probably a good idea for ankle pants, looks a bit strange on regular length. I would like to be able to wear them with booties, like the Edelman Pettys. Martin skinnies are a bit too tight to wear over booties.

Here are the Sloans (1-2) and the old Martins (3). It seems that the long length does not quite work with booties (I also tried folding them 1 inch, in #1, but that seems too short). Should I try these in ankle length? How would one wear ankle length pants over booties, especially if there is slight gap - do you wear socks? no-show socks? I like the overall fit and quality, although I am a bit bothered by the wrinkling in the crotch area - I checked the Martins, and they do that a bit too but not as much.

What do you think? I am also wearing a new Michael Stars top I found at TJMax - I bought it to use as loungewear but I think it can work as a casual top as well. I am giving faux tuck a try here; not sure if it works.
