Hi Ladies,

Just wondering what temperature it has to be before you start wearing your boots (ankle and knee high)?

Our temps have cooled but it's still warm:) Today is 28 degrees celcious and as I am scrolling through Pinterest for some ideas on how to style a new white (yes I said white) dress, pairing it with bare legs and boots is looking very appealing. I just don't like the idea of looking seasonally confused:)

#1 is the dress, but I bought it in white. It is tencel and quite lovely. Of course I want to style it with blacks and greys:)

Nice dress. I'd probably consider wearing short boots at 25 degrees or cooler, because I don't like hot feet. I used to have a pair of long boots but they were best in the depths of winter as they were very warm.

I like the idea of bare legs and boots, especially with a cross seasonal dress - it's the perfect solution for spring and fall. I remember when I went to college one of the trends was to wear sweatshirts and flannel with shorts in the fall. It worked surprisingly well, temperature wise, because your torso is the big thing you want to keep warm (or alternately, cool).

I have learned that I am rather prissy about wearing the right clothes for the temperature. I really hate getting chilled or overheated because of what I'm wearing.

With boots, I'd probably stop wearing tall boots at 60-65F, and ankle boots somewhere in the 70-75 range. That's based on living in a place that doesn't have high humidity; if I wre back in the Midwest where I grew up I'd adjust the limits down ten degrees or so. And it depends on what else you're wearing, too - a looser dress, no tights, might work well with boots while jeans and a t shirt require more airy shoes.

In Sydney, 23 degrees was my magic number to change from short sleeves to longer sleeves, and from sandals to shoes. But I think if you are itching to try something out you might be ok to give it a go!

I tried some booties with a dress at the weekend but changed back to sandals. That was during the day though, imo it's cooling down enough at night to wear them.

Hope you are okay Deborah. I like white dresses and I'll look forward to seeing your new dress. I haven't ever thought about temperatures for boots. Usually it is a sensory choice....my feet are cold, I'll wear booties. April until November when Melbourne's temperatures are below or well below 18 or 19°c would be my estimate. While the evenings can be a bit cooler in March sometimes, I'm still wearing dressy sandals and pumps to go out. I'm rearing to wear my two pairs of new season booties as soon as the temperature drops a bit more, though I'm enjoying the warmth while it lasts. It won't be long and all of us in the south will be into our booties again. I tend to only wear long boots in the winter with my tights and dresses but think the look is fine with bare legs in autumn and spring too.

Good question. I can't remember!! Lucy's recommendation or about 23 C sounds like it could be right.

I went looking at Myer for shoes today and noticed that they have very few knee high boots available yet. Which is a pity (and probably intended that way) as I was hoping to make use of their "second pair half price" March deal!

Hello. I am in australia and I have already worn knee high boots several times with bare legs this year. I wear them on cooler, wet or windy days. I find with office air conditioning I am never too hot. I differentiate on colour. I wear taupe, camel or tan boots in summer and save my black and dark brown boots for winter. I would definitely wear my camel boots with that white dress. And I reckon 28 or below is cool enough.

Deborah, your post made me smile. It would be very rare here in the UK for the temperature to "cool" to 28C! At that temperature we would all be swooning in the heat and reveling in sundresses and sandals. I'm way behind you in the fashion stakes, though, and don my boots when my feet get cold!

It was 55 F yesterday, but I am still wearing my winter boots, as the 12 inches of snow from last week is now melting and there are potholes and water everywhere.

I hope to never be too old to accidently splash in a puddle.

Lol, I'm with Summer! I'd be in a sundress and flip flops at 28 degrees!

My feet are almost always cold, so boot weather for me is practically year 'round, especially since I work in a cold office.
