Boho dress?

So I got this Alexa Chung for AG jeans dress transferred from another store at Nordies. When I went to pick it up my usual sales associate who's very honest wasn't there. The department manager said it looked good. But is it too boho?

Hmm, I'm not sure, Anna. It seems very prairie-ish here, but I know you could style it amazingly. I think the gathers under the yoke are tripping me up -- that's the one element of this dress I think I could do without, at least on someone who is not small-busted.

I see why you loved it enough to order, but it may not suit your body type. If you belted it that would help, but it looks too short to do that and still have a dress.

Gorgeous colour on you and hits at the perfect spot for your legs. Probably has great movement - but a static shot is not doing it justice. How would you style it?

Uh no, I LOVE THIS DRESS ON YOU. The absolute instant the pic came up. And I love the prairie flavour.

Right also, has to be said, a conventional brother like mine would ask if you're turning in for bed, and I trust you would then RELISH in your STYLE SUPERIORITY as I would. I would in fact roll around in my relish like my dog in the grass. Pure freeking joy.

Back after another look: the sleeves! I love the sleeves! The sleeves with the yoke... Really, I didn't know AG did anything this good from the mag ads... And that I should give Alexa some respect.

I like it from the front. For me having big boobs a dress like that would tent when seen from the side. I am assuming the side view works for you? And although I do encourage you to enjoy your dress, I don't think it would benefit from being rolled in relish as Rachylou suggested ;-). At least the pickle relish that I am imagining. Oh Rachy I love your comments !

I'm gonna go contrarian here and say, I'm not so sure. I see that others love this dress on you, and so I looked at some of your March WIWs to see what makes Anna tick. To be honest, I love your other WIWs much more. You carry a sporty chic, finished vibe really well. You put together boots and socks and jackets really well. I'd have to see this dress fully styled by you to see if it rings true to your essence.

Interesting! At first glance I didn't love the upper part, it just seemed too closed up, like too much dress, with the sleeves, the high neck and the fabric just falling down from the bust.
However! The color is great on you and in spite of my reservations, there is something really cute about it on you. A little sweeter than your usual but why not?

My first thought, like Janet, was prairie rather than boho, but I think when you style it it could totally work. Love the color on you!

Anna, I am not sold on this. The neckline accentuates your bust and I am not sure the neckline is the most flattering on you. (Hope you don't mind my honesty) But, I am willing to accept that somethings look better IRL than photos. On the upside with your styling abilities, you could totally change my mind on this.

I believe this dress can easily go "70's-non-boho" style if going "too boho" is what you are most concerned about, but I think Deborah has a good point - the neckline is doing something odd with your proportions. Maybe a necklace may balance it, but I'm not sure about it.

Replying without reading the others . . . I don't love it, but that could be me influenced far too much by traditional figure flattery. I don't want to be perceived as negative, but it hits the bust line and then drops away. I bet it is comfortable, but it seems very . . . well, it reminds me of a shorter version of a dress my very religious great aunt wears.
