Today in the blog, Angie posted about what looks are super evocative of our current fashion era. So I thought it would be fun to post our ideas of what we'd wear to a "Party Like It's 2012" party, say, 30 years hence! And the weekend is coming up, so extra credit for wearing it outside the house!

I'll do mine tomorrow! In the meantime, here's Angie's fab boyfriend jeans look from yesterday to get you all started!

Who's with me? And what 2012 refreshments are you bringing to the party? I'm bringing gourmet mac n cheese for sure!

OK --- I'm in, but I may have to wait 'til Monday. For the food, Retro is Modern in 2012, so I'm going old-school with the ancestral Potato Salad. The secret? Homemade mayonnaise, basically yolks and sugar, stirred on the stove for 20 minutes. Makes men leave the couch for more during the Superbowl!

I would come in a colorblocked bright outfit! Maybe burgundy oversized top, and orange midi length skirt, with animal print booties and clutch. I'll bring fruit for munchies!

I'd wear my cobalt sweater dress outfit from recent WiW- with leopard booties and pop of red. Mixing red+cobalt+leopard says 2012 to me! I could top with army jacket then all I need is a day clutch for 2012 perfection...

Ha, I would do a hard pattern mixing, something like in 1-3(not tried yet IRL!) but of course, with one of my booties (still, strictkly bare legs, like learned here on YLF:-)), and would treat you with sweets, a hungarian speciality named "krémes"(means mousey or creamy:-)) at what I'm so good at !(nr4-5).

OK let's see. I think I would wear my houndstooth trousers, rolled up just above my black heeled short booties. On top my leather stadium-cut jacket with the knit sleeves. Under it - because it's me, probably a white shirt, with scrunched sleeves, and because it's 2012, maybe a semi-tuck. if (want to add colour I'll wrap my cobalt pamine around my neck in a French loop or braided loop.

For eats? I'll bring kale chips and some kind of dip made from Greek yogurt.

Okay, here's my 2012 outfit! I wore this out to lunch with my BFF today!

Striped Breton top: LL Bean
Olive cargoes: GAP
Espresso booties: Bronx
Denim jacket: Levi's
Colorblock tote: Vince Camuto

I think I've checked off most of the "early 2010's" boxes: stripes, skinny cargoes, booties, arm party, denim, animal print, scarf, colorblocking, and big bag.

I'll wear cobalt skinnies, a white T with 3/4 sleeves, great big leaf-shaped earrings or maybe feather earrings (those I would have to buy) and a short black jacket, also with 3/4 length sleeves.

I will bring my much-requested flourless coconut pound cake, with strawberries in syrup and whipped cream.

H&M floral pants

Kate Spade High Line Leica turquoise jewel clutch

Banana Republic Trina Turk colored bangles (plus a few more silver and black ones)
White House Black Market silver and black pendant

I think I hit a lot of the 2012 trends:
Cropped floral printed pants (esp the H&M version that many of the fashion bloggers wore)
Diagonal tiered stripes
Print mixing with stripes and florals
Orange
Turquoise
Bright shoes
Daytime clutch
Matchy matchy (purse and shoes)
Arm party

And I'm bringing some Korean tacos (bulgogi or spicy pork and kimchi) and some pina coladas (virgin for me!).
