Black booties for fall - YouLookFab Forum

My beloved black Blowfish ankle boots that I have worn for three years now fell apart at the end of spring. They are not repairable.

Black booties are an essential for me for fall and winter style as I love to wear them with skirts and dresses in particular. I do have my black Doc Marcie boots that are mid calf with three inch heels that I can still manage with my bad knee but will need to replace my Blowfish booties as well for a lower heel height option.

I'm looking for leather, 1.5 - 2 inch heels, not a pointy toe but not round either (something a little elongating).

I really like the look of the Nine West leather booties in #1, but am also strangely drawn to the Harley boots in #2. What do you think of either of these as possible options? Any particular recommendations - would have to be available in Canada. I'm not doing the international shipping thing any more.

Hm, could you post a pic of your Blowfish for comparison?

I think there were also some nice ones by Clarks floating around.

I prefer the first one. Does Nine West work for you?

The second is ALGO in my opinion, especially if you want to wear them frequently.

The 9 west look pretty good, Shannon -- the others won't be as versatile and would be more similar in mood to the Marcies, I think.

But it's not time yet. Booties will start coming into stock soon.

Suz - agreed it's too early, just getting ideas and putting a small fall/winter list together so I don't lose track, you know?

i like them both, #1 is nice and definitely wearable and wardrobe workhorse. But #2 is unexpected. now the question is, would you still want to wear #2 a year from now?

I think I prefer the simple lines of #1 more - and your blowfish ones are rather simple too, no?

I like them both. #1 would play a nice supporting role with just about anything. #2 is a fun "steal the show" option. So, are you looking for a reliable workhorse or something fun?

To me the decision seems to be which way do you want to head this fall--sleek or tough?

Personally, I would find #1 more versatile. #2 is fun but wouldn't go with as many outfits. I guess it depends on how you see your outfits looking this fall.

Great questions ladies - I am indeed looking for a reliable workhorse with more sleek than tough.

So, out of these two options then #1 works better for my style. And looking at my poor dear departed Blowfish booties, they were sleeker but had a wee bit of detail with the twist on the side. So I guess something sleek but interesting?

Thistle - you are BRILLIANT!!! And check out these Fluevogs that are on their website currently...in my size...on deep discount...similar to the Nine West in my first link but with a more rounded toe. Actually the toe shape is very similar to my Blowfish booties. Do these qualify as "sleek"?

Oh, YES! Sleek but with an interesting edge. But you have to know that I'm a total Fluevog fan.

Me too Gaylene! When sweet Suz gifted me the green Fluevog pumps that weren't working for her, I was hooked as soon as I put them on. The comfort level was AMAZING! Then I bought the black and animal print pointy toe oxfords for fall/winter and can hardly wait to break them out.

Hmmmm....there's only one pair left in my size, which are currently sitting in my cart...

ETA: Oh my - I'm an IDIOT! I forgot I don't have a credit card anymore! Anyway, had to phone hubby at work to get his number in case I want to order the Fluevogs. He was killing himself laughing saying "I have all the power now"....too funny!
