Best Warm stylish Winter boots....

I saw Viva's query this morning about best booties for the weather and that reminded me I've been meaning to ask for recommendations for warm but stylish knee high winter boots. I have been alternating the Uggs Belcloud's black/gray with the midcalf Uggs Adirondacks - I love them both and they keep my feet toasty warm but the winter is long and I'm getting bored. It's been a huge snow,ice, mud pit here and I am out with my dogs a lot - so I didn't know if anyone had thoughts of something with a good tread, pretty washable soul (translation nothing precious), water resistant/waterproof that looks sleek but is warm at least mid calf and better yet knee high. Any thoughts? I only wear black, gray or combo. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Ah, I had this dilemma this winter too. Snowworthy boots that still could go to the symphony or a nice dinner.

I ended up with these Blondos (based on Sveta's suggestion), which I have already worn half a dozen times in the 2 weeks or so that I've had them! I wouldn't wear them in an actual blizzard (for that I have my Sorels) but they are great for after the blizzard, when there's still a mess on the sidewalks and occasional deep snowbanks to get through. Just a warning though, not all Blondos are the same, you need the ones like this with the lug sole if you want good traction. Mine are also fully lined in a plush material which keeps them warm, and they are fully waterproof.

This is my first time trying them, as I always thought they were "just" rain boots. They are WARM and cozy! I even use them to snowshoe.

For something more fashionable, I just got a pair of La Canadienne "Caleb" boots from Piperlime for a ridiculously low price last week. But, they are brown and only size 9 and 10 left there. There's a 50% off code (for final sale) that brings them to around $160. They are very sleek; the ankle is quite fitted.

Diana - thank you so much for the suggestion and the link to your thread!! Obviously, I totally missed that one!! I am off to check out all the recommendations. I have pretty narrow calves - how to the blondos run? I don't know that brand. Also do they run TTS? thanks so much for the help. Really appreciated!!
pastrygirl - I have never seen the bogs. I just checked out the info and they are rated for such cold weather. who knew? do they run TTS? thanks also for the piperlime link. Good price too big though. But many thanks again for checking!!

Hmm, I have 15" calves so the Vitalias would probably be too wide for you, but I think they may have other styles with narrower calves. They are NOT too baggy on my 7.5" ankles though.

Gryffin, I am watching this thread closely. Make sure to post what you pick! I am not convinced I will end up with a bootie. I started out the winter thinking I would buy new knee-high boots, so who knows?

I have Bogs too. I never thought of them as snow boots, since they do not breathe at all. However, they are warm, being neoprene at the top. We got them at Cabela's which is an outdoors type store - hunting, fishing, etc. We got them for a trip in Alaska where we would be doing a lot of kayaking. They are kind of heavy, though.

Diana - thank you for the update. I think they might be too wide for me. I am the happy clam in all the narrow running sizes. They looked really nice and I like the sole - plus amazon has them on sale. Bummer. I will check out the other offerings. Thanks again.
Viva - thanks for doing the bootie post because if made me realize I should be on this if I want another pr of boots before they are all gone. I do have the two uggs pairs that i love. But I think you were going for something more elegant. Wow, we need to talk to the boot designers don't we!! I'll keep you posted and let me know if you have any thoughts too!!!
JAileen - thanks for weighing in on the bogs. No camo was not quite the look I wanted either although I thought the black ones pastrygirl posted look pretty sleek. We just need indestructable, better yet washable, fab tread warm boots, is that really too much to ask!!

I'm not sure about size, because I'm technically a 10.5 but always have to size up to 11 because most brands don't come in 10.5. But, the 11s feel cozy, like they are molded to my (narrow) foot in a very comfortable slipper way. They are easy to drive in, too. I've had duck boots before (LL Bean) and those felt WAY HUGE all the time. The Bogs "feel" like regular boots to me. I don't know how, because they look big! I never thought about them until the Nordstrom half-yearly when they were out there on display; I tried them and was really surprised!

I have an average calf and can usually fit in tighter boots. I haven't come across a pair that I can't zip up.
