Best shoes with Maggy London dress?

So I'm trying to round up the components with which to style the Maggy London black dress, and step one is to find dressy shoes to amp it up for parties. There seems to have been a push for me to get a red pair... Is that still the best option? Or should I go for silver? And what style would you suggest with this one? I'll be slightly limited by the type of heel on the shoe, since I'm incapable of walking on stoletos )as Reva can attest), but I'd be incredibly grateful for any suggestions you may have as to which style would look best (peep-toe, classic pump etc).

I'm always a fan of a retro round toe pump with a chunky heel. Maybe peep toes if you can stand them.

And I LOVE red shoes. I'm pushing for red too!

I like the idea of classic red pumps ,but can see peep toes or sling backs looking fab too. I like Maya's idea with chunky heel and round toe too as something cute and comfortable.

I had a look at Canada's Zappos and they have some beautiful embellished evening ballet slippers.

The first is red satin with a corsage in the same colour adorning the toe

I'm in love with these small heeled shoes from zappos

They are silver, they have a peep toe, a wide strap crossing the foot, an elegant t bar strap leading to an elegant ankle strap. The heel is closed and the actual heel looks like a stable two inches. These shoes are very retro Hollywood

Oh I totally agree: round-toe pumps with a chunky heel, a retro vibe would be perfect with your old movie star elegance Michelle.

I was thinking either red or purple.

(the description doesn't mention this, but they are not plain red, they have some sort of self-patterned marbled effect going on, it's quite subtle, but it adds a nice textural interest)

Suede might also add textural interest to your outfit, plus these have a wedge heel but still look festive.

These are very simple yet elegant open-toed pumps. The heel is higher though... I like them both in the purple suede and the purple patent.

I also think that you can't go wrong with a round toe pump with a chunky heel. A colored suede would be really lovely I think.

But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the silver shoes in the last link that RoseandJoan posted.These are dressy and look like they'd be comfortable as well as quite smashing with your dress.

another vote for red pumps- either peep toe or a sling back shoud be great!
If you're wanting to go the silver route, I'd go for a darker pewter rather than the ligher shinier silver. It seems a bit more versatile as well as more sophisticated to me for some reason.
And, for the record, I can't walk iin stilettos either!

Michelle, red is definitely your color, but since you have a red coat, I worry it'll be too matchy matchy? I'd go with metallic instead.

Well, that was officially the most frustrating afternoon of my life. The city of Toronto is practically barren of red dress shoes that aren't sky-scrapers or stilettos. This is literally the only pair I could find that was flattering on my stupid wide feet, and I'm not convinced they're right:

Is the red too compromised? I understand it's more of a burgundy? And does it look too much like an office pump?

Ridiculously comfortable... I'm kinda surprised you think the colour will work though! I thought maybe it would be too dark or washed out?

Well it's definitely not a bright red, it's quite subdued, buy I think that's fine! It's a good shade of matte red. And if they're comfortable, who cares if they're not bright red?!

Maybe I'm the odd one out but I don't find them all that special. They are cute, but they're more like office pumps than dress pumps for me. Any possibility of buying online?

Here’s what I think:

o I am mesmerized with your description of the Steve Madden pumps as “ridiculously comfortable” . Nice price! I do agree with Maya that they are a little more office-looking than party looking. But I’m also with Marianna in that they will look fab with the dress in burgundy. I like that they are burgundy and not red so that they don’t match your new coat, which was to Shiny’s point. I like burgundy matched with red!

o Sliver or pewter round -toed pumps, sandals or peep toes with a chunky heel will look sublime.

I guess I haven’t helped at all :0(

Angie and Maya, you hit right on my concern for this... I thought they felt more like office shoes, but I wasn't sure if the little flower ornament could potentially kick it up. I'm taking one more stab at shoes tomorrow, but I'll focus on silver instead as I may have better luck there. And I foolishly hadn't even considered the coat-matching question, so thanks for the reminder.
