Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Belt question

I bought this belt when bloomindales had a special promotion:

and I just got it in the mail today. I love it so much. My outfits are usually pretty simple, so I love that this adds a little edge. I have been seeing how nice you all wear belts and how much they do for an outfit and this is suprisingly my very first belt. I tried it on over cardigans and it looks great. One problem: I got the small and I still have to use the very first hole in order for it to fit. The problem with this is I have a really long flap hanging out. You can probably imagine this by looking at the picture and seeing where the first hole is. Should I just let the flap hang or try and tuck it in somehow?

Also, do you have suggestions for what to wear it with? I tried it on over two of my cashmere cardigans (a ballet pink one and a dove grey one), but I'm drawing a blank on what else I can wear it with.

Thanks so much in advance.

Hmm....there doesn't look like a good way to keep it from flapping around because of the style of the belt.

Are you going to wear this strictly as a waist belt? If so, it seems like it would be worth it to take it to a shoe repair place (or someplace that works with leather) and have it professionally shortened. They will finish the end so that it looks like the original ending on the belt.

Since the belt is silver, it acts as a neutral, it should go with any color that looks great with silver. Blouse tops and cardis will look great with a waist belt.

i would pear it with bolder colors, such as kelly green, cobalt blue, fuschia, or orange. i probably wouldn't pair it with pastels because it might not stand out as much.

as for styles, here are a few silhouettes that i think it would like nice with:

dresses - anything with waist definition (aka not sack dresses or empires)

tops- i agree with ana that it would look great over any sort of blouse or cardi. you could also try it over a vest - particularly navy
