I went to the BR outlet store this weekend with a friend. I found some great skinny jeans, super dark wash, comfortable and soft. A new pair was on my wish list for spring and they were about $35, which I thought was a decent price. They're called straight, but they look pretty skinny to me.

I also bought this top, which I'm a little torn on. Can I have your opinion please? It's a little louder than I'm used to, but I love the colors (grass green and white). It also has a poof on the shoulders, a first for me. I promise not to wear it with leopard flats.

I also bought a plum colored short sleeve sweater and a floral swingy tank.

The jeans look great and the top isn't loud at all- great finds!

love the jeans and the jacket (I guess it's not new but it made me go wow!)
the top...... I"m not sure about it. I wouldn't call it loud, but busy... Okay, I just looked again and it's starting to grow on me. I guess it's just not as polished of a look as your first outfit which threw me at first.

Fabulous finds! The jeans look fantastic on you and I love the top! I'm pretty sure I tried on the darker version when i was at the outlet last week:

Those jeans are perfect on you...nice find. The top doesn't look too loud but you can always use it as a layering piece with a jacket or cardi to tone it down a bit...cute:)

Uh uh, queenie, are you iffy on the top? I want it to be right since the store is about 25 minutes away, but honestly I go back and forth.

I know everyone else likes the top.... but if everyone else was jumping off a bridge..... haha, the mom in me.
I can't say I'm in love with the top. Something is just not setting right with me. It would probably work much better for me with a cardigan or jacket over it. Alone I'm just not excited about it. Interestingly I just stumbled across this blog post about choosing a print.

Queenie, thanks for the article. I'm print challenged, I admit it. I've gotten better, but I still sometimes gravitate towards the brightest loudest print I can find. I have a hard time distinguishing between "nice print" and "nice print on me". I used to have a closet full of boring solid neutrals, then a few wild out of scale prints. When I'm looking at prints in the store I have to tell myself "subtle and sophisticated...subtle and sophisticated".

Everything looks fab, but I gotta say I LOVE the jacket. It is right on trend for this season's military looks. I am print challenged too, and am slowly working towards rectifying that. That said, I don't think the print looks too loud to me

Both items are really nice! I like the shirt too, definitely not too loud. I bet it will also look good layered under some of your neutral and solid pieces too.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards keeping the top, if only because I don't want to make the drive back (horrible reason right?). I like the idea of layering it so not as much pattern shows. Most days I need a layer because of air conditioning in the office anyway.

Thanks for the compliments on the jacket. It's an H&M thrift store find, I think it was $6!

Kristine - I think the jeans and the top both are great on you.
The jeans are flattering and I love the dark wash.
The top is a nice print (I didn't read the Inside Out Style article yet). It would look good under the jacket and adds some interest on its own without being a loud print. It seems like a nice versatile print and style.

Keep both and have fun with them this spring and summer!

(I know what you mean about the prints we are attracted to vs. the prints that looks best on us.)
