Editing my MOTG coat wish list (pix!!) sale ends tonight!!

I really need help weeding my list down...I seem to be in love with a lot of coats, but I need to also budget for tops and tunics, and probably some winter long sleeved dresses. Feel free to talk me out of/into any of the following...

Tried on a few coats at Lord & Taylor today, and also one at Nordstrom's - but my phone died (*sad*) so you won't see a picture of me in the last coat...however, here are the others I was considering...

I think I'm off this one...I hadn't realized that the hood is not removable. I am mainly including it because the dune color is very pretty, and I think looks good on me - and is similar to the "khaki" color of the DKNY anorak I was unable to take a picture of...

I adore the pockets on this...I realize this is not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's very MOTG, yet the faux fur and gathered pockets make it feminine and even a bit chic. If I recall correctly last fall's Comtoir des Contonnier's line featured anoraks in a lot of outfits.

I think I could wear army green quite well with my coloring, and I will admit it would probably get less dirty.

I don't know anything about the brand or sizing though. Is it a yay or nay? I just got leopard ballet flats and they are SUPER comfortable. I feel like in a small wardrobe (such as I have, particularly shoes) I might be limited in the amount of leopard I can own...heh).

Current coat collection: red down jacket from Land's End (high hip), 3/4 length gray wool coat (dressy), black ruffle leather moto. Am I forgetting any? Hm. I"ll update if I think of another.

I think the aviator looks OK. I don't think you'd notice the grunge as much since it's not white white.
The red has a very high empire seam that is not working for me (if the girls are at or below it not flattering)
I like the DKNY anorak in the light color best (I think it's more stylish and you can get colorful scarves and hats). I am also MOTG and am looking for something just like this.
This leopard is ok, but I personally don't really care for the super fluffy furry variety - too stuffed animal for me.

Don't know if your husband is right about the grunge on the aviator. It is a cool look - but will it be warm enough? Is it real shearling or faux? In my climate for the amount I'm outdoors as a MOTG, it wouldn't offer enough warmth for winter. But I am not sure about yours.

Toggle coat is a fun colour and covers your bum, which can be good; I also like that the hood is removable. But it would still be casual without it. Still, you could change the look up with hats.

The dune colour is pretty on you, but for MOTG it better be washable. Is the anorak waterproof, too? That would be practical.

Not much help, but at least I'll bump you up!

Suz - I can only find it on Nordstrom's and Lord & Taylor's - neither lists it as waterproof.

Too bad, it felt warm and snuggly on - loved the knit cuffs.

I agree that the red toggle coat's empire waist is not the most flattering (otherwise I love it). Of all of these, I like the aviator the best. For some reason the link to the green one does not work for me. The leopard seems a bit too dressy. What kinds of activities are you envisioning doing in this coat? The styles are all so different! Is is going to need to be weatherproof, etc.? I know that as a MOTG in the PNW, I need a weatherproof coat for running around all day in our rainy winters, but I also like to have a more stylish coat for nicer days/going out with dh or friends, etc.

Interesting observation on the red toggle coat - the empire waist comes just under my bustline...perhaps it looks off due to my awkward cellphone taking pose? heh.

Clearly I have a fashion focus problem! Yes, the styles are a bit different, tho I thought the style of the leopard one was not too dressy? (Sort of a baseball jacket style?) That being said, I'm cool with being talked out of things! Ideally, I just have a small wardrobe of workhorses...I feel like I go from wearing my leather jacket in the fall right to a puffer, because I just don't have any other options.

I live in MA, and I don't think our winters are terribly rainy or even snowy, really, until January-ish...and then, it's not every day or that bad...well, last year was, but not typically...

I would wear these jackets waiting for my daughter's bus, hanging out at a playground, or out doing errands. I stay home, so I don't need a subway-commuting-city-block-walking type of coat. When it gets too cold for the playground, we do indoor playdates, so I'm going from the house to the car to someone else's house. Very little outdoor time.

I like the anorak in army green. It's a great neutral. I also love it in white but it just doesn't seem all that practical.

modgirl, I agree. The deed is done - just in the nick of time - 20% off the sale price at L&T (Labor Day sale). I think what de-frumpifies this particular anorak is the military styling...and the army green color helps there, too. We'll see!

I'll post pix when it arrives!

THank you to everyone who responded...it helps to hear arguments for/against different items...especially when you have sale stars in your eyes. heh.

BUT... I love the red coat on you. I think it's very flattering and a perfect MOTG jacket.

Ah, too late to make a difference, but I see what you mean about the red coat in the other photo - it's not actually an empire waist. Still, I think you made a great choice and the jacket you chose sounds great. Can't wait to see it! (I still can't get that darn link to work for me)

I like the red toggle coat the best, but the olive anorak is great , also. I have a weakness for coats, so I say buy both!

Just to clarify, I had already ordered the red coat (but it hasn't arrived yet, hence my poor cell phone store picture) AND I ordered the olive anorak last night. I really feel they are quite different, and if both are flattering (I'll post better pix when they arrive) I'll probably keep both!
