Hello everyone,

Here is a link to two new outfits I tried this week (see the first three photos):

Photo 1 - banded top dress and cageheels. these are both new "edgy"items.

Photo 2 - cotton skirt, tee shirt and belt. my husband said the stripes don't work. Ideas for what would work better?

Photo 3- an outfit you have seen, this time with new slouchy boots. Do you think these boots are versatile enough to wear with skirts or are they too low on my calf. I thought they would taller, very disappointing!

Great outfits! I love the cage heels and dress, very urban and edgy, but still elegant at the same time. I would wear something like that in a heartbeat. Are the cage heels very comfortable? I also really love that yellow and grey tunic. I wore something that is a very similar shape today, but it is solid grey. The pattern on yours is killer! I think the boots and tights work, you can definitely wear them that way. Do they seem too short when you wear them barelegged or something? That might be true (I'd have to see a photo to know for sure, though).

I agree with your husband about the stripes, but I think it's just that the belt is off kilter with the stripes on your shirt, so it makes it seem as though something is "off." The top on its own without the belt would be just fine.

I also like your first look -- nice foray into the edgy side!

And I adore than tunic. Gorgeous. The whole look totally works and is in proportion, including the slouch boots. I think your eye just needs to get used to the mid-calf slouchy thing.

I agree with Ana -- the striped top itself is not the problem; it's the combo with the belt that doesn't work for me.

Love the first look! Love the shoes and the black dress!

I'm not so found of the second look, I agree that the stripes and the belt are not a very good combination..

Also love the outfit with the yellow tunic and the boots! Very well done!

1)I love the neckline on you it's shows off your arms beautifully. IMO it's a tad short to wear with heels perhaps flatter shoes?
2)Great outfit, agree the belt is working against the stripes- definately try threbelt with a plain top.
3)Woohoo i love this outfit.
Regards the boots i think the best way is to try them with skirts see what you think. If your still unsure post piccies we're always happy to add our 2 cents x

You look great. I love the first outfit. It's simple and elegant. I'm with all the others that it's the belt that's not working in the second outfit. And the last outfit is just amazing. I can't comment on the boots without a picture, I'm afraid.

You are adorable, and you wear citron so well!

#1 - The cage heels are KILLER. You have amazing legs (and arms too). How high are these heels?

#2 - I actually think you carry off the stripes very well, but what is bugging me is the sleeves. Maybe that is what your hubby is objecting to? If this top was sleeveless, it would be better.

#3 - I missed this before. The tunic is amazing. LOVE! As for the boots, I think this is the "in" look for fall. If anything you want them to slouch more (not go up higher). I think Angie is supposed to post about this.

You didn't ask, but the citron dress is wonderful. This is definitely your color! Love the length, the neckline, the nude shoes - everything. I'm seeing this with a "cheeky" white denim jacket, or moto jacket... or heck maybe even a boyfriend jacket....

Your slouchy boots are inspiring me. Great job. I'm sure you can restyle your striped top. Maybe a skinny belt worn high under the bust? Or break up the stripes by wearing it under a waistcoat?

Oh my goodness you look great in that citron color. Enjoy the color, I don't think it looks that great on everyone, so maybe it is a signature color for you!
Your legs are so long and beautiful. I agree with what was said about maybe if the skirt is short go with a less high heel. It is not that you don't look good, because you do that is for sure, it is just that less is more sometimes.

Thanks again for the input, suggestions and nice comments! The cage heels are 4 inches high. I can't believe I bought these but I love them and they are moderately comfortable for such high heels. The brand is 9 West and the name inside is Lucky Duck, but I bought them at a discount store and I am not seeing them online so thinking they are a few seasons old.

San, I love the idea of a signature color. That green/citron color always jumps out at me so I guess it is my signature color by default!
