I received an early access code and have been browsing the goods over the last few days. It is OVERWHELMING, even for me.

The overwhelming aspect of the sale often has the effect of underwhelming people. I promise that you *will* miss things as you browse and shop. And miss lots of things just because there is so much stuff to digest. I kept on missing things and I have been studying the assortment for a couple of days.

Today, I start pre-selection appointments with clients. (And I am my first client!) I will know the sale assortment like the back of my hand very soon - touching, fitting and seeing stuff makes the world of difference to me.

Anyway, there will be a lot of talk about the NAS this month and I will guide you as best as I can.

One big tip, keep on scouring the merchandise and become familiar with it. You will score big time if you put in a bit of effort.

I couldn't agree more, Angie! NAS always gets me a little frantic, even though I think I am a fairly organized shopper. I feel the time investment is entirely worth it though for not only the savings, but the amazing investment pieces.

I am pre-selecting today too and I can't wait to get my hands on everything!

I look forward to your picks soon because as you said, I know I will miss many things and having many eyes on the selection is invaluable.

Thanks, Angie - I've been scouring, and have found some key basics that I'm excited about. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I am a bit underwhelmed by the petite selections, but honestly, I think I've found enough to fill out my budget, and I look forward to your picks for additional ideas.

Sarah, do you have to wear petites? I agree that the petites sale section is by far the weakest section this year. You might need to try regulars and have sleeve lengths adjusted.

I haven't been able to see any previews, but I have an appointment tomorrow to pre-select (they are going to let me open an account at my appointment). I have absolutely no idea what's included in the sale. I'm going with a list, however, so I'm really hoping my SA will help me navigate it well. I have nothing for fall/winter right now, so am starting at zero - really hoping to find some things on my list that I love. Shouldn't be hard - fall is my favorite season - both for the weather and for the fashion!

Wear comfortable clothing when you preselect, yellowgirl!

I don't think it's always the best strategy to go with a shopping list. You overlook things that way. I vote leave the list at home, but be discerning about your purchases.

Remember that there is lots of time to change your mind and return during the next 3 weeks. But two things go very fast:

- the small clothing sizes
- the designer stuff

Act fast if these items are in your head.

I'm confused. The BF got a card on Sunday - they said that would allow him to preselect. But when he goes online it asks for a code which he doesn't have. He called yesterday and they said he doesn't qualify this year. Then why did the SA's tell him opening a Visa would qualify him?
We can't drive out there 90 min away. He works until 8pm 6 days a week. It's not possible. It has to be online or not at all. Bummer.

Good advice, Angie. I don't think I fall into either category, depending on which sizes qualify as small. And I'm not necessarily looking for designer, either. I'm just hoping to find a few pieces that I fall in love with!

Mo, I'd try to get your BF to call again. Any cardholder gets access to presale, regardless of when the card was opened. In fact, they use the presale specifically as a carrot to get people to sign up for a card. Maybe if he calls credit services directly instead of regular customer service he will have better luck.

Mo, you will only be able to shop AND purchase the NAS online from 15th July onwards. There is no conflicting information there. The access code does not allow you to purchase online before that. The access code helps you prep for the pre-selection appointment. You can only purchase before the 15th with a pre-sale app and a Nordstrom card. Sorry if that was not made clear to you.

Angie, so he doesn't get a code until the 15th? He has no code and was told on the phone he didn't qualify for one.
He has no trouble waiting to buy the actual clothing - much of it won't be worn until later in the year anyway. We just wanted to be able to get dibs on some of the good stuff before it was gone . . .
I will have him call again. He has just a temporary card (on a receipt like paper) until the actual card comes in the mail this week.

Mo, the code does not allow you "to get dibs" - you cannot reserve anything online until the 15th. The code allows you see the stuff - that's all. You get dibs by going to a pre-selection app. Does that make sense?

One Nordstrom by me, had their pre select areas set up and a white screen over part of it, so you can see through a little. Another had them completely blocked off so you could not see anything. From the bits I did see, there looked like a lot of lovely items, and I especially liked the colors I am seeing thus far. Crossing my fingers some good finds will still be around as I am not a card holder and will not be part of the pre select process.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with that impression! I often find that the shoulders are too broad and overall lengths too long on regular sizes, so I'm pretty stuck. Of course, pants are easy (I'm a hemmer extraordinaire), but I generally am looking for tops/jackets at the NAS, so that makes things trickier. But I'll try to keep an open mind and look at everything with an eye towards altering.

Sarah, I have a very dainty frame, and the horizontal dimensions of size 0P are good on me - of course the lengths don't fit at all because I am 5ft 6. My point is, if you shop the right regular sized stuff, the garments will probably fit with sleeve length adjustment. I have MANY 5ft 2 clients that never shop petites! I think you might learn something new here if you shop the right regular labels.

Thanks, Angie, that is great to know. I know that for Gap, BR, and Talbots, I generally require petite sizes. But I'm not as familiar with the Nordstrom labels, so I'm game to try!

Angie and the experienced NAS shoppers - I called Nordstrom to make an appointment for the presale and they asked me which dept I wanted to shop at...???!?!?! No idea - help?

Last year NAS was easy for me - I had too manu holes i needed to plug. This year is different as my wardrobe grew over the last year and I have fewer needs now.
I have made an appointment again and SA suggested I come during pre-select and they can open a card for me even though I am Canadian. I am driving there this Friday and I have not even seen any NAS stuff yet. I think I will call SA today and ask if I can get an access code to preview online before my appountment. It is overwhelming, Angie!
My biggest regret about going pre-select this year is that I will not have Angie's picks to guide me there. I have only one chance on NAS and I would not want to blow it!

Last year I did well at NAS with Angie's help. This year I hope to do as well but I'm going to try and be more focused. I want a non-black bag and I'm eyeing some boots. There are items in the catalog that intrigue me but I need to try them on.

I'm really looking forward to your input Angie, and to hear what everyone else here is loving.

I've had a look at the catalogue (thank you Khris for posting the link) and am already eyeing a few things.
One thing that struck me was the lack of midi skirts and dresses. But the catalogue only shows a portion of what will be on sale online, I think? So hopefully there will be some options there..

Ok now that I got a peek at the catalog, I am hoping Angie will do a blog post about sleeve volumes and which styles work on which body types. There are a lot of capes/big sleeved varieties with tops, sweaters and jackets.

I just wanted to say that you can order now by phone. I just placed my order. The number is on the early access page log in page. Also, I am a new card holder also and I got a code by calling the credit services.

I am a cardholder and just got my catalog - let the scouring begin! My appt is on Thurs and I really hope my Nordstrom stylist has a clue. She won't be able to hold a candle to Angie, of course ...
