Ask Angie: Spring Must Haves

I know that it's just barely winter, but I am really looking forward to spring. I'm trying to hold off on spring shopping until Feb/March, but I'd like to get a list in mind of what pieces I want to look for (since getting to the shops takes some planning on my part). I think that I will need almost a whole new wardrobe for spring/summer. I ordered a Sweet Pea top on super sale to try out, and if it works for me then I will be haunting ebay for a few more. I already bought a pair of black leggings to go under dresses (a few of which still fit me), and I know that I want to try denim leggings out. White jeans are on my list, probably a new denim jacket, and new skinny jeans along with micor check pants if I can find them. I know that I will end up with at least one lightweight cascading cardi, because I just love those. What pieces/colors would you suggest for my spring wardrobe?

I’m busy with a flop proof YLF Spring 2010 list right now actually. But it’s under wraps for a little while longer I’m afraid – still deciding on the final cut :0)

Let’s just say that you are on the right track, Khris:

o Milk the colour after a hefty season of grey and black

o Leggings are still a force to be reckoned with

o Skinnies and cigarette pants are BIG.

o There is no substitute for white anything, so milk that too.

o Still lots of volume (wooohooo!)

o Lilac! Turquoise! Yellow!

I'm waiting on the skirts v.s. dresses verdict. Stay tuned.

We’ll see 90’s trends surface too unfortunately, like maxi skirts and ankle length pants. Not so fab.

Oh Yay! I was hoping that there would be a spring list. That will help me a lot. I'm glad that I'm on the right track. Dresses always win, in my book. I'm also really drawn to harem pants- will those still be trendy?

I can't wait for this list Angie. I will not be buying anything till April, so I will be spending my "fashion time" making up lists of spring things to try. Your flop proof 2010 spring list will be of immense help!

Khris, how are those pants "harem"?

If you read the description, they are meant to be worn at your hips- which would give the crotch area more bag and look more like a harem pant.

Khris, Urban Outfitters has BUCKETS of harem pants on sale right now, and sale items are 25% off until the 5th. I'd jump if I were you! They look much better than the NY&Co ones, which looked like glorified sweats to me. There are a few on this page:

I'm not really looking forward to spring based on the sneak peek. Lilac and 90's trends, ugh. The rest just seems like a continuation of last spring. I hope the final list has some goodies stashed away.

I'm looking forward to seeing these trends in stores. Right now nothing grabs me as a "must buy," but I may change my mind once I see them in action.

Angie, I'm also looking forward to your spring list. Khris, as I remember, you wear scarves. Last spring Angie's suggestion of adding a white/cream or bright color scarf like aqua or yellow turned out to be a real winner for me. A spring scarf is such a day brightener. Flower pins and belts were also a great way to give what you have a spring feel.

Thanks for posting that, Maya. I looked through them, but none of them worked out for me (limited size selection on sale items). I did fine a UO pair on ebay that I am watching.
