Ask Angie: Massimo dutti jacket

hello Angie & All,

i bought this jacket in size uk 14 but have the opportunity to exchange or refund next week when back in Ireland. i really liked it in store and the trustworthy person i shopped with sad it was flattering on.

bodywise i an an hourglass size uk 12 - 5'4' - little appley at the moment but in process of shrinking back to size uk 10- so the apple part should be gone by christmas.

questions for you please-:
1. collar- most of my collars are deep v, funnel neck winter or collarless leather. this reminds me of an older style collar an not sure if flattering to me or I am just not used to it. though it can stand up - my neck is too short for it that way.
2. bought uk 14 as understood md sizing small- didnt try on 12 - stupid i know - as the 14 just zipped up over boobs. but wondering whether this jacket is better smaller to be worn open- or is really an always closed jacket?

or perhaps not just right for me?

omg! I was just lusting over this jacket this morning, so pretty! I'm an hourglass too and this king of jacket looks good (I have a similar one in chocolate)

can I ask do you wear yours open or closed? qnd how do you fel about the collar?

I wear mine opened, except when I'm outdoors and it's too cold.
Love the collar, my favorite, that's why I was considering buying this in black.

hope i am not being too personal but would you buy md in your normal size or size up?

am wondering is it worthwhile to try and find a 12 to try on - or will it be one of those embaressing shop moments when you cant get your arms into the jacket!

I'm between two sizes and I bought this jacket on the smallest, I did not have to size up and it fits wll on the chest and arms.

It never hurts to try on a smaller size. But if you didn't think the 14 was too big when you tried it on, I'd probably go with that. Being able to zip a jacket up is always a good thing, imo. It's a beautiful jacket and if I had it I'd wear it zipped and unzipped.

It's good to try an assortment of sizes so ago ahead and try the 12. YES, a jacket can be worn open - and most leather jackets are worn this way. You DO need to close a coat, but not a jacket.

i actually have a good few lovely leather jackets that i wear open - but no black so wanted one for the mix- but this is that bit looser than them.

you know when you want to try something new ...but then it feels funny cause its different !

i think if i turn the collar down half zipped so more of a v shape would be better....
