Loulou, I have been a closet legwarmer wearer for years. I wear them over knee high boots (which are worn over skinnies). I also wear them with ankle boots and skinnies (over both). They do look better with a heel, even a small one. I don't really like how they look with my riding boots, but that doesn't mean they won't look good with ANY riding boots. Mine just don't have a nice enough shape to them.

They also look great with leggings and pumps or flats though it might send some into 80's overload. You and I were both kids then so I think we have a good excuse to try them this time around :)

I have tried them with skirts, but I just felt too girlish. I'm petite and young so I am overly conscious of looking like a schoolgirl though. Might work on someone who is clearly too old and tall to be in high school.

I’m looking for an age appropriate pair of leg warmers too, Louise. I’d wear them in my boots, over skinnies. Just like we did in the 80's. You need a shorter boot I think.

You gals may have just inspired my next knitting project! Over skinny jeans with a heeled ankle boot- sounds good to me!

Hmmm, interesting - if I ventured into Leg Warmer Territory i would wear them over skinnies, but under tall boots - so a few inches of leg warmer would show above the boots. I'd be glad to see some leg warmer models! (hint hint!)

I will be also getting a pair to wear inside my yellow wellies, just picking at the top over skinnies.

I can't wear my legwarmers under my boots. They wouldn't zip up.

A few years ago Anthropologie was selling tall-boot-length spats! SPATS! I regret not buying them SO much. They were the greatest accessory I have ever seen.

Hmm I don't get if you're wearing them under boots how is that different to just wearing a pair of long socks??

I have a black and red striped pair I bought in Vietnam - they served me very well in some chilly situations over there. This winter it wasn't cold enough for me to wear them here. Boohoo!!

That is how I wear them Loulou. Mine are white though, which was not the most practical color for navigating the city through dirty wet snow. Not sure what to try next, as black will be too dark for me. Gray perhaps?
