Ask Angie and others: Still on trend?

In relation to today's post, I've been thinking about a few things that have been trending the last
seasons, and I wonder if they are starting to fade or not. It would be nice to know in order to stay more of less fresh and up to date.

Zipper details: I'm beginning to get a tiny bit tired of exposed zippers, but still see them around. Maybe not as much as previous seasons?

Shorts + tights: I really like this look for its easiness and the fun of being able to wear shorts when spring is still way too cold for bare legs. But I haven't seen this look as often as a few years ago. I passed three teenage girls in shorts and tights today, so maybe it's still reserved for the younger crowds?

Booties: I love booties and please say that they never will get out of style!

I think (and hope and if I'm wrong don't tell me) booties will be in for a long long time.
Shorts and tights - young look in my opinion, but young is a relative term (I don't believe in strict age cutoff points like you can't wear such and such after age 30)
I am seeing fewer exposed zippers than last year, and am actually ok with that because I fear they will look dated in a couple of years and don't want to have to get rid of things that I really love just because of a detail like that.

None of those looks are dated at all. And booties have never been MORE popular. A true footwear phenomenon that is being worn with just about everything year round.

I am so weary of exposed zippers, but I still see them in stores. I suspect they're cheaper to put in, certainly cheaper than invisible zippers and require less extra fabric than fly zippers, so we'll keep on seeing them for a while.

Shorts and tights I never see much in my area, but if you like it, rock it!

Laura - I don't see shorts/tights as much now as the previous years, but if I find the right inspiration I might wear it again.

Never thought about costs of invisible zippers vs exposed. Good point! I think I'll leave that party to others for a while, though.

Hmm, interesting. Lately I have found myself being attracted to the shorts plus tights trend. This trend seemed utterly ridiculous when I first became aware of it. Now I am being sucked in...gah. But I would need to find a pair of dressy shorts. The few pairs I have are too casual for this trend, imo.

As far as exposed zippers, I just buy whatever fits. Unless the zipper is gaudy (meaning it has fluorescent fabric backing or something nutty like that), I don't really care either way.
