The colour is a stonewash blue, like the ones in new look, it doesnt have a collar, it has 3 buttons on the front, two pockets and it has a belt at the back. Im a size 10. Hope this helps.

Is it an outerwear coat? And what kind of activity do you think you'll be doing when you go out? Like out to dinner and a movie?

Without more specific information, it's difficult to give an outfit idea but it sounds like a fairly casual jacket. If the jacket stops at the waist, I wouldn't wear it with anything longer than the jacket. Would you be comfortable weanig it with dark rinsed trouser style jeans and a colorful knit top or blouse with the collar outside the jacket? Maybe a chunky long strand of beads?

Nicole, a waistcoat refers to what we call a vest, I think.

I am struggling with this style myself, so I can't give much advice. What I can say though is that you should avoid jeans, lest it become like 2 of the 3 pieces needed to make a 3 piece denim suit. I think it would be best contrasted with a slick pair of trousers and either a blousy or knit top.

Not sure I'd combine denim with denim. How about black, white or cream pants? Definitely agree with Nicole's suggestion of a colorful top.
Do you have a pointer to a picture of this or a similiar waistcoat on some online site?

Gosh I guess I toally misunderstood the post. I forgot the orignal post said it was denim. I should delete my last post...definatey do NOT wear denim with denim!

How about a cotton rich knee length skirt, a pair of strappy sandals (if it's warm enough, or knee boots if it's still cold as it is here), and a button down blouse that is bold in your favorite color!
