ARMED FORCES DAY
Saturday, May 16, 2015
To all My sisters and brothers who have served and continue serve. I salute you.

2nd picture 1st time in wartime conflict 18yrs old
3rd- AIT. Advanced Individual Training (Cable Dawg) communications
4th- last wartime conflict 28yrs old
5th-collage and now you know my last name.

I was 17 when my dad allowed me to enter into the Army. Felt like I was 70 when I left. Lol almost feels like looking at someone else. I was so young I'm 41 now!

Indeed, your service is appreciated. #4 is a good picture, tells a story. Admittedly also a landscape that looks familiar to me from my friends' pics.

Out of the blue question--did you have email and Internet when you were overseas? My good friend, he started in the days of letters and ended in the days of satcom... on that front, it was like 70 turning 13 again and discovering passing notes in class... He joked about all the Axe brand products that came into use. Said soldiers shouldn't smell like fruit, lol.

Dian G -thank you no matetter what your background or walk of life is we all contribute to this tapestry of life.

Rachylou that is so funny. I had the same hotmail email account for the longest then it was hacked (go figure). Now I'm a computer engineer take that hackers! I still have my hand written letters home and my parents kept theirs. Sometimes I will pull the letters out and look at them but, not as often now. Again that was a different life. A little sad I get kind of teary eyed when going down memory lane.

One thing that stood out to me was writing my dad a letter when I went to my first conflict I was going on 18. I told him I had to write a will and that I left him my 32inch TV and my Laser Disc collection I had 5 lol. That was all I had besides my clothing.

Thank you for your service to our country! My family lives near Ft. Dix/McGuire in New Jersey, and DH and I vacation every year out near Ft. Drum. Every time I see a member of our armed forces I thank them, because without all of you, we wouldn't have the freedoms that we do.

Oh, I'm sorry I missed this and let Armed Forces Day get by me! My son just got out of the Marine Corps and I have a very deep appreciation for you and all of our veterans and active duty service people! Thank you for your sacrifices!

Thank you all for the responses I just appreciate the Men and Women who have and still are serving and the families that support them.

Joy it is not hard at all. It was a difficult transition not going to lie it was. But we are all human and come from different perspectives. It was something I had to learn.
