went to New York and company today with my spend 75 get 30 off coupon and found these items..... everything looked great in the dressing room, but now I'm not so sure... problem is, it was buy one, get 2 free so I only paid for 2 of the items. my total bill for the 6 items was $45, but I don't want to keep anything that doesn't have styling potential.

red tunic (I''m thoroughly convinced that they have skinny mirrors in their dressing rooms... I didn't look this chunky in the store!)

You don't look chunky.

Great buys! I like everything! I think the three ruffle blouses look really similar, so you might want to pick one or two and return the other. My favorite is the blue flannel plaid.

The white botton down is amazing yon you. I like the grey one too. Keep!

Marianna, thanks for the vote of confidence-- but I'm not kidding when I say they have skinny mirrors. I looked like a long lean model in the dressing room.

I realize the ruffle blouses are similiar, but the one more ruffly one is definitly a dressier blouse- it's hard to see the detail but there is tiny black beading at the edges of the ruffles and it is a much lighter weight fabric- so they would serve different purposes.
the other 2 are the same shirt, just different fabrics, but like I said, it was buy one, get 2 free, so I didn't pay for either of those.....

The red tunic looks fantastic on you, keep! I agree that all 3 ruffly blouses are very similar, so I would choose one, depending on what fits your needs better - dressy or casual.
The button down shirts look great, and they fit you very well. I personally like button down shirts a lot, so I might be biased - I would keep, but only if you are going to wear them, because you sound a little unsure

I love the purple and blue shirts, flannel but still feminine. Keep. Don't worry, that's just concentration on your face. I catch myself making that expression all the time.

I'll be the odd one out and say I don't love the red tunic. The color is very pretty on you, but it seems to have a curved side seam that doesn't do you justice. Return.

The purple ruffle shirt is gorgeous on you. I love the color! If you only keep one thing, keep this!

You'll get a lot of mileage out of the white shirt. And isn't that what we all want, "mileage"? Keep.

Steely grey is a modern color and it looks nice on you. This'll look great with spring brights. My favorite styling is with the black sweater or the pink scarf. Keep.

The boots are very cool! Keep.

I have similar thoughts:
- Keep the red one. Beautiful color.
- The plaids and ruffly are similar, but if 2 were free, then what the heck
- Button downs are nice! My first impression of the gray one was that it was kind of masculine, but you've styled them really well and changed my mind

does the grey shirt look too big? It's the same shirt as the white one and the white is a small, while the grey is a medium..... I won't ramble on about why I did that.....

Queenie - They all look good on you (well, all except the too big grey). But if you are looking for the best: the red tunic looks pretty good in the photo, but I bet it looks really nice when you see your entire black skinny pant leg AND when your arm is down (not lifting one side of the tunic). That might be the fitting room diffference. Your necklace looks great with it too.

Of the three blue/purple shirts, I think the blue flannel plaid looks best for fit and color. I like the v-neck proportions on you.

The white blouse looks perfect on you! (When you figure out how to wear white shirts, let me know please.)

The grey blouse is too big. If you get it in Small it may look as good, but I think the white color is better for you than the grey.

I really like the red tunic! What’s the fabric like?

I REALLY like the button downs and believe the white fits better than the steel blue. Does the smaller size feel comfortable? Really like the way you styled the grey shirt in outfits. Fab!

I vote all the ruffled blouses go back. They are okay, but think you can do better. Sorry :0(

You look wonderful in cobalt blue though - hope you stock up on that colour.

Angie- the red tunic is a medium/heavy knit- poly/rayon/spandex. It feels really good on. I see it with denim skinnies and my new boots! Can't wait to try that out.

I started with a small in the grey, but it felt a tad snug, and it only came in small in the white, but in looking at the pics I can clearly see that I need to go with the small. I think I'm just not used to the feel of button downs. I'll go try the small again today. I think it will look really nice with white jeans.

I do see now that the ruffly blouses aren't killer on me, and there is no shortage of woven shirts out there so I'll return them and keep looking. I really want to focus on getting some wovens though. What do I need to be looking for/avoiding? Is it the ruffles that were wrong? the plaid? the lack of collar?

Queenie, do those button downs have stretch? If they don't feel right maybe there are better options for you. I really like my JCrew slim fit perfect shirt. It's cut more slim through the body and arms and has some stretch to it. Maybe try a few different types before you decide.

Oh Queenie. I'm glad you are keeping the white button down and the red tunic, they are my favourites. The boots are super cute too.

You looks so happy in the red tunic and I love how it looks with the flower necklace.
The white shirt really makes your teeth look white, and the whites of your eyes look pretty. Great layering piece, and you have just shown us all how the magic of a white shirt works. Sometimes we cannot see it in our own mirrors.

Kristine- the button downs actually do have stretch- they are 3% spandex, so they should be fine.
Julie- I would love a plaid tunic, just don't know if it would love me

I love eveything except for the paid shirts.. I'm not crazy about them.
The tunic is a bit chunky but you are slim and I like it on you.
Love also the white shirt and the grey one!
I prefer to see it tucked and with a more fitted cardi..like the first one! Fab cardi!

Kim, when it comes to ruffles, it’s a good idea to get something in a better end fabric. Ruffles don’t look so fab in an inexpensive fabric (solid fabric especially). They require good drape.You don’t need to break the bank, just be mindful of that. I do prefer you in cleaner lines though. And I am LOVING you in button down shirts!

Kim, you look GREAT in button-down shirts. The white is wonderful. I like the gray on you as well, but I agree that a smaller size would be good.

Also, you are a woven-shirt styling genius! I love it when you post a bunch of different styling ideas. I think you could do all of those types of looks.

thanks Angie for the tip on the ruffles. I am slowly coming to acceptance of the fact that I need to stay away from "froof" and stick to cleaner lines. Don't know what my hang up is... but I"m getting there. Your affirmation really helps.

so, its more button downs for me in the future as well as dresses....
